Game won't start - SOLVED by .NET repair.

Hello
Have just bought a new laptop to play X4 and having bought and downloaded X4 from steam whenever I launch the game form the desktop icon or from within the steam app all that happens is I get the "will you allow steam to make changes to your computer Y/N? box (user account control) every time.
I click yes and then get a little pop up box
X4 Foundations Steam
performing first time set up
installing: Microsoft DirectX for Windows (step 1 of 1)
the progress bar then completes and the pop up box goes away and then nothing else happens

I have updated windows via update and it reports windows is up to date
When I opened the steam app (already installed upon purchase) it updated itself
Other than firefox, X4 is the only program i've installed on the system
I now don't know what to do.

As can be imagined after spending £1.5k just to play this game I am just a little disapointed and hoping X4 tech support forum can help get me into the Xverse

As for version number - presumably v2.6 English
No game start as yet as game doesn't load/open

When I use cmd box to get Vulcaninfo, below the cmd I get

It doesn't sound like your graphics drivers are set up correctly. Windows Update is pretty much useless for this; you usually need to install proper drivers from the graphics card manufacturer's site, in your case NVidia's. Try that first.

Have visited Nvidea site and followed their instructions for a clean install of the latest driver, sadley to non avail. Still get pop up saying performing first time setup and then nothing.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled steam app and X4. Also didn't help.

Did find the DXerror.log and have included the last entries below from when I tried to launch X4 the last time. Don't know if that helps point to a solution.

Any Ideas ?

It looks like the DirectX installer is failing because it doesn't have sufficient rights to install the files. Does the user account you are using have admin rights on your laptop? And are you saying "yes" when it asks to be allowed to install/modify files?

Only have one user account which shows as administrator
and yes, pressed yes to allow steam to make changes to system

I don't have that Microsoft.DirectX.dll anywhere in my Steam folder. I would have thought it would be installed in a Windows update to DirectX rather than on every game launch. I could be wrong though.

On searching the steam folder can't find any directX.dll files in their either.

I'm wondering if best option is to figure out how to reset the laptop back to factory settings/reinstall windows unless anyone has any other ideas?

Followed the links, ran the .Net repair tool, installed dxwebsetup and this time when I ran X4, joy of joys it worked.

Now off to familiarise myself with this Xverse before starting properly when V3 is released
