A few suggestions regarding fleet roles and capabilities

I think that the explanations provided by the devs regarding the current functions of the roles were useful, but more could be done to enhance them.

Here are a few suggestions in this regard:-
  1. Rename "attack" to "attack my current target" to make it's function clearer.
  2. Rename "defend" to "escort" or "default" in order to make it's funtion more self apparnrt.
  3. Make interceptors also target missiles and capital ship sub systems; essentially making them prefer targets in increasing order of size (missiles>S>M>L>XL)
  4. Add in a few new roles to cover the general requirements that a player may have regarding role selection within combat; suhc as:-
    1. "Bomber" as a counterpart to "interceptor" to target ships in decreasing order of size (L>M>S>XL). XL is least preferred in order to make the ships target Destroyers and Frigates over Carriers in combat. One important consideration is that something would need to be done regarding the Xenon ships in this regard since they are classed as XL and thus an exception to the general rule for ships
    2. "defender" role that would make the groups stay close to their flagship (say within 1/2 the engagement range radius) and prefer targets which are close to the flagship.
    3. "suppression" role to make the group exclusively target capital ship turrets and subsystems.
A few other suggestions regarding the general capabilities of ships are:-
  1. Make ships with landing pads use stored hull parts and repair drones to repair landed ships/subordinates. This would make the fleet support role of Frigates much more prominent and make Destroyers into effective flotilla leaders. Carriers and Auxiliaries would still be able to service many more ships due to their expanded storage spaces and be able to rearm ships with missiles and torpedoes. This would also make the storage space on a ship a much more important consideration.
  2. Extend the trader role to subordinates of carriers (and all ships with landing pads) in order to allow them to more effectively fill up on needed supplies (such as hull parts) using S ships as shuttles.
  3. Allow ships within a fleet to be set to automatic repair; which would make them automatically use any available source of repair within their operational area/engagement range (ships, carriers, auxiliaries, stations) to repair any damage they may have sustained.
