I'm aware that this has been much talked about, and that there are responses from devs regarding how 'Autotrade' and 'Distribute wares' works, but after turning off tatertrader mod and switching my entire trading fleet to 'Autotrade' or 'Distribute wares' (some 50 strong M and S class ships) I can, with full confidence say that both Autotrade and Distribute wares are subpar options to tatertrader.
I'm also aware that tatertrader 'cheats' by knowing the prices and locations of all stations, no matter if discovered, and I'm not happy about that.
All that beeing said, I just can't believe that no matter how I setup them (taking care of size of wares vs size of ship (their cargohold)), both 'Autotrade' and 'Distribute wares' are just silly - I have ships flying around with full cargoholds, and then selling the smallest amounts across the entire map for a profit of ~20k credits.. That's just sad to watch. Even my L sized trader, with full cargohold of hull parts is now flying across the universe to sell 20 hull parts!
I guess the easiest way to notice the difference is your expected earnings - using 'Autotrade' and 'Distribute wares' and 50+ ships, my max was 2.5 mil, using tatertrade I was on 20+ mil with less then 30 ships..
So my question is, can we pls have a decent (or at least smarter than the current one) trading logic implemented, 'cause I hate to use mods for something that is IMO a core part of the game.
Other than that, awesome game, and hats off to you gus for bringing patches and new stuff at speed I have never experienced in a game so far. Cheers!

As far as I am aware Distribute Wares does not work as an auto trade replacement. Ships set to distribute wares will only sell what is in their cargo hold, they will not restock when that runs out.
Want money? Sell ships. Trading Wares is only early game money and best done from your feeding stations until you can use all their wares internally.
L trader logic is actually usable now. Yes they will still sell just 20 units of a ware, but they load up at least half full before doing so. If there is enough demand one can see full loads move around automatically.

distribute wares does restock, the thing is it does not care about profits AFAIK so it may loose money on some transactions
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

I have never managed to get it to restock ships. Every time I checked my distribution ships they sat around without wares after selling the last of the wares they had when I started the default order. Maybe this was a bug that has been fixed but I do not have trust that they do anything productive.
