Other than using a few largest cargo ship to repeated instruct ships to transfer items from build store, is there an easier way to access those items?

No there is not. Otherwise there would be little point having more than 1 large storage module since the build storage has practically infinite capacity.

Stations can move stuff to their build storage that the build storage asks for. This is done automatically via cargo drones and only to the station's own build storage. Self building stations are hence possible.
