Building your own ships, where are they? RESOLVED

Post by Faley »

I finally got enough money to build my own shipyard and Wharf. So then I realized you have to buy the blueprints for the ships you want to build. First I bought a blueprint for a ship from other Factions not the same as the Argon shipyards I built to be sure it would build any ship. I bought a blueprint of a ship from Taladi, and HOP and it worked I was able to build those ships. Then I bought all the ships blueprints from Argon and a few more ships from others like ARG etc, etc. Now I own the blueprints from all the ships I want including every one from Argon. I also bought all equipment blueprints from Argon and several others as well. This took a lot of money. However, now when I go to my shipyards to build, they do not list all the ships to which I own blueprints, including Argon. In my Wharf it list only one ship in Medium M size and only two ships in S small size even though I own all the blueprints. My Shipyard only list XL category and does not even provide a listing for "L" ships, and only shows ONE 1 ship in XL. so Where are my ships that I bought blueprints for?? why can't I build them? I also made sure my shipyards are fully supplied and I can build the XL ship it shows at the shipyard and any of the total of 3 in list at the wharf.

There are 3 building modules for ships, and each Module is specific to a set size of ship. So if you only have one building, say large L size,, your shipyard will only show that size of ship in the build list.
You need all
modules to build all sizes of ships.
Also you need the right kind of blue prints for Shields, Thrusters, ect. To fit that size of ship !

It’s expensive, it’s frustrating, and can take quite some time to gather all the blue prints you will need just to build one ship.

However ! Think on what blue prints you actually need !

I Get Piranid Engine Blue prints.
Argon Turrets,
And Teladi Shields Blue prints.
And don't bother with all the other race blueprints as they are inferior and not worth having.

Only get them all. Once you have plenty of money to spend.

Thank you. That info is important to the game and should be redidly available in the on-screen info windows.

Apparently I did not read or understand your response correctly or I did not explain my issue fully. I though you were saying I needed a different construction mod than what I had. When I built the shipyards, of course I used the blueprints of the S/M ship Fabrication mods that I purchased. The Wharf has 13 of them and I used the L/XL ship fabrication mod that I purchased as well for the Shipyard. I used 2 L/XL ship fabrication mods for the shipyard. I now have added 2 more S/M ship fabrication mods to the Wharf and 2 more X/XL ship fabrication mods to the Shipyard. But my question remains because I had the correct and a sufficient quantity of mods in the shipyards. I even had docks, and housing as well as container storage for ship building parts. I should have been able to produce the X/XL ships at the shipyard and M/S ships at the Wharf but it only list a total of 4 ships even though I own all the ship blueprints.

So the question remains...
How can I have a shipyard (built using the L/XL Ship Fabrication Modules, and Only the "XL" ships are displayed in the building list (but not all of them) and there is no "L" category and no "Large" Ships, even though I own the blueprints for the "L" ships such as my freighters??? There is no 'L' selection menu in the shipyard

I made a stupid assumption. and just like in real life, assumptions and presumptions tend to be useless and come back to bite you in the butt.
In the game there are two types of facilities that build ships, the Shipyard and the Wharf. The shipyard makes L or Largs ships and XL or extra large ships while the Wharf makes S/M ships or Small and Medium size ships. The Wharf blueprint requires One Module S/M Fabrication module which builds both size ships, while the Shipyard Blueprints require both a L or Large mod and a XL module for the extra large ships. So to build a fully functional Shipyard and Wharf you have to buy the blueprints for s/m ships as well as the L mod and an XL mod or three sets of blueprints. I did not get that when I bought the blueprints for my shipyards and it took me awhile to figure it our, thats why I call it my stupid mistake. Sorry for my original post, which I cannot delete but I hope my explanation is somewhat reasonable. Thank all of those who spent time reading and responding to my post. again, my regrets, for the confusion.

Do not think your self to be stupid, the game is very bad regarding information as to how things work In it. And what you need to do things.
There are many of us who have been through what you are doing, it is frustrating, it is short sighted on ES’s part, as they know, but do not inform us very well.
You are part of the development team for this inadequately documented game.
ES for the most part leave it up to the players to figure things out, then when things like this crop up they put out some information, but it is usually incomplete, and frankly not worth reading.

You will get better help on this forum from players than from ES, they are too busy with there big guns, to worry about how and what the playing gamers need to know.

Basically your on your own, stumble, fumble and fail, then try again.

I'd like to add, teladi shields are inferior, most say they aren't, but realize that while they have the highest capacity, they have the worst Regen. I find argon shields allow my ships to survive almost twice the damage because the regen kicks in sooner and is faster.
