Random Spacesuit Death (3.0) - Ran out of Oxygen.
So i was in my spacesuit with my trusty repair laser working away are repairing turrets and shields and stuff on my behemoth I'd just liberated from some pesky SCA pirates and suddenly game over.
Actually I'd just gone to the map and given another ship orders and as I closed the map I got the game over. Well there had been some red blips on the radar so I assumed one of them had come around and given me a laser up the ass. Was a little frustrated as it was over an hour since my last save... that repair laser is so slow.
Came back to the save, let the behemoth dock and replaced some crew and turrets etc, but decided not to repair as i hate myself and wanted to suffer again with the repair laser. Off i go, no enemies or hostiles in site. Ship docked at a wharf. Start moving to the last shield to repair and poof, game over. Nothing around to shoot me, I was 132m away from the ship, so not like I rammed myself to death. Just moving in a straight line.
Is there some timer on how long you can be in the space suit? Lack of oxygen or something?
TLDR' twice after an hour or so in space suit, poof game over with no apparent reason.

I think 10 minutes air for space suit. Get your sound louder, you hear the breathing. The faster, the less oxygen left.
There may have also be a IFF mine near you. Had that once, the mine hidden behind the ship. Every time I was in the ship the mine would go bang and kill me. It was when the game came out so I thought it might be a bug
You may have gone into it's range while doing repairs.

30 min of air supply.
A HUD element to show this is currently being made and should at some point arrive in the game. Cant promise it for 3.0 though.

Ah ok. If so, you might want to tweak the flight school upon 3.0 release so it doesn’t mention the HUD element. Just my two cents to avoid confusing new people.

Ah, I wondered what the new tutorial meant. So it's just not there yet. In that case, I second @tomchk's suggestion from above.

If 30min air supply was introduced with 3.0 you should really provide a HUD element and otherwise remove it until you're done with the HUD.linolafett wrote: ↑Fri, 22. Nov 19, 14:45 30 min of air supply.

Re: Random Spacesuit Death (3.0) - Ran out of Oxygen.
There was a limit before (I am positively sure for 2.5). It once happened im my game that my Player-Character died as I was repairing a recently boarded L-freighter. I have done this several time starting at Hull-Level 60%. This time I had to start at about 48% - and this proved to be too much. As I had blocked the "Shoot"-Key (in my settings: Space ...) my Player-Character suffocated silently. As you might know: "In space, no one can hear you scream."

The oxygen limit was in since release.

And progressively fade the display to black in the last minute, just for that added anxiety if you're trying to get back.linolafett wrote: ↑Fri, 22. Nov 19, 14:45 A HUD element to show this is currently being made and should at some point arrive in the game. Cant promise it for 3.0 though.

I recall X3 also having an oxygen limit and the same problem of no warning for it running low.
Might be a good idea to add to the tutorial that the repair laser is intended to repair only S ships. M, L and XL ships repair themselves as long as they have a captain so they do not need to be repaired via repair laser. No need to waste 30 minutes repairing a ship.
