Wing names cannot be changed - Improvement in a future build.

I am able to change ship names in the information tab but cannot change the wing name?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Game has been out for some time so surely this is fixed by now.

So not a bug but poor design? Noted. Glad to know that modders can do a better job at management design for a universe simulator with the anticipation of having to manage large amounts of ships doing various things. Unfortunately we cant use the venture feature if we mod...

Not so much poor design as minimum design. There is a VERY long list of features that could be added to any game; which features are addressed and when is a matter of prioritising what can be done with the resources available.

The wing system needs a lot more work than just being able to change the name, but wings are probably less important for most people than other fixes to behaviour and operation. Personally, I would like wings to be organizational structures, irrespective of whether any ships are currently allocated to the wing, with the ability to allocate build capacity to fill/reinforce wings according to defined priority. However, I do not expect to see such changes any time soon.

It will be possible to rename Fleets (our new name for Wings) in an upcoming version.
