On release the pirate sectors were active. If you were carrying something of worth, they wanted it. Unfortunately, on my near 500 hour game they have all but disappeared. I guess a patch somewhere along the way broke them.
This is just an example of my very quiet pirate sectors (just a few stations, no ships) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 1893091882
I wish there was a way to get them to build more ships without having to start a new game.

Starting a new game not fix it, believe me, as I started a new game, and pirate sectors are practically empty. Only two to three station on each sector and not ships.

Upload this as bug report on egosoft bug section. Also it might be helpful if you have savegame uploaded.CaptainRAVE wrote: ↑Sat, 19. Oct 19, 15:03Well at least that stops me starting a new game for nothing. Thanks![]()

The pirate ships hanging around pirate stations was a bug. They were meant to be out pirating what the pirates need and not chasing away all the smugglers trying to deliver wares to their stations.
Pirates are also more picky now, they will usually demand what they want. Rather than anything more than a few Energy Cell units in value.
They are still very stupid, and will demand that a Doom Fleet member ship drop their cargo. The pirate does not live long after making such a demand...

So maybe it is now working as intended then.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Sun, 20. Oct 19, 07:19 The pirate ships hanging around pirate stations was a bug. They were meant to be out pirating what the pirates need and not chasing away all the smugglers trying to deliver wares to their stations.

Or they are also demanding inventory items, or isn't working as intended, because the cargo hold of the ship where I'm aboard is empty, but they demand to drop cargo and turn hostile.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Sun, 20. Come to think of it, I've seen pirate stations but no dogging or bother from any pirates like the older games.

I have noticed recently that there are indeed lots of pirates, but they are often not in pirate sectors and are running under false identification. I know this because I build an illegal ware complex in Hewas Twin along with a trader that was quite often attacked by them.
