How does cap ship drone resupply work?

I have 4 fleets, and each of the 4 fleets has 1 carrier, 3 destroyers, and an auxiliary ship, for cap ships. I send them off and they go do some work, but they don't seem to replenish their drones(cargo, defense, repair), that I can tell.

Am I not giving them enough time to complete that, or is it something I'll have to manually set them to do once they get back into friendly space? I know my Aux ship has something close to 100 drones of the 3 types. So I figure it would supply the rest of the fleet... how does it replenish them, or does it replenish them at all. Can it manufacture them from the supplies it carries, or does it have to purchase the drones itself in order to restock it's own stores after filling up my other cap ships, if it even does that.

drones are replaced the same way as missiles. They are manufactured by the aux ship, equipment dock, etc. If you want to transfer drones instead, you do a ware transfer rather then upgrade/resupply. In the encyclopedia entry for the drones it will list their build materials at the bottom.
