This may be a bug but you can't select objects in space when in your ship but are not captain.
Given that you can't select a station, and there is no visual feedback as to your current destination and distance, it makes it difficult
to know how much longer your captain will take to get to the destination.
If this isn't a bug then it would be nice (feature request) to have some sort of panel in the cockpit that provides your destination, distance and speed.
Thanks!

Re: [Request / Bug?] Provide visual feedback of distance when not captain
the impression I get is that the game wasn't designed to be played that way. Pilots are meant to be for additional ships, not to be the driver while you stand in the cockpit. I think people just do this to bypass docking, because autopilot can do everything except dock and fight. That's why the command system for pilots isn't good for ad-hoc, on-the-fly situations, and is better for preset routines.

It would really add to the game to let us select objects in space (not only stations) while being not in the pilot seat. I often let my pilots / captains do the long term trips while I'm standing on the bridge & enyoing the view. More then once I missed the possibility to investigate stations / ships we encounter during those travels - especially if they are new. Opening up the map always breaks the immersionuser1679 wrote: ↑Mon, 2. Sep 19, 03:27 This may be a bug but you can't select objects in space when in your ship but are not captain.

Thanks!

Also - certain interactions could be started from there too (communication, buying ships, looking at trade offers) even more so if one owns the selected object (e.g. giving withdraw or subordinate commands).

I only have my pilots fly me around when I'm busy doing things using the map interface... Which honestly is more or less all the time! xD

Do you see Captain Picard on the Enterprise giving orders from the pilot chair to select things etc. Nope. So why limit it to whoever is in the pilot seat. Also there should be on cap ships a dedicated captains chair and a pilot seat separated.
