Boarding Enemy vessels in my space, such tedious babysitting of my ships

Post by spankahontis »

I have set up shop in Nopileous's Fortune, built an Administration and have several Frigates based there to defend the space around it.

I don't mind my security vessels when they are hunting down Xenon Fighters and Kha'ak ships.
But I get sick and tired of when I use my Space as a hunting ground to capture HOP Miners and require my security forces to stay away while I perform this delicate operation.
Yet they seem to fly in like complete Jelly Brain's, all barrels blazing on a killing spree of these HOP Miners when I need them to back off and stop shooting at the ship while my boarded marines go in and do their thing.

In the End, the result is they kill the ship and all my marines that are on board (Most are Veterans coming on Elite).

My attempts to send them away fail as they disobey orders and keep firing at the boarded ship.
I've cleared all their orders in behavior and try again and yet they go straight to "Shoot to kill" again.

Seems the only best option is to fire the pilots and promote others from the Crew Roster after the boarding mission is complete.

There must be an easier way to tell my security forces to back off on certain ship classes (Unless they are shot at).

Did getting into oos(at least 50km away) from the target after successful boarding work to reset the commands?

It would be nice if a ship being boarded would stop neutral attacks too. I love when I just launch my marines and start the op and in comes a friendly destroyer to kill my crew and my prize. It wouldn't work that way in real life so no harm in stopping it in the game.

US Ship: "To all other vessels, I'm boarding this pirate boat and seizing it"

Brit Ship: "Blimey, a pirate, I'll sink it"

US Ship: "Brit ship... Stop firing immediately, we have US marines aboard and are winning the ship"

Brit Ship: "Blimey, a pirate, I'll sink it"

US Ship: "Holy crap! Stop it, we've almost seized the ship and you are sinking it!"

Brit Ship: "Blimey, a pirate, I'll sink it"

(Ship sinks)

Brit Ship: "You're welcome yank! Cheers!"

That would not go well and would be likely looked at as hostile action against the US, not just killing a pirate.

In a Nutshell.

Only it's..

"Why you fire me!? I help destroy that defenseless Mining ship for you!"

I TOLD YOU 5 TIMES, FLY BACK TO BASE!! I'LL DEAL WITH THIS SHIP!!

"Yeah, I wasn't listening to your commands, you mad bro?"

*Pulls out Hair*

It's a case of once again, X:Rebirth had a decent solution for this that they've either disabled or removed the script entirely?
Before you could Comm the friendly vessel and in the dialogue you could tell them to "Stop Firing" and unless the enemy ship is firing back at the friendly vessel it will cease firing until you start firing at the Enemy Ship and it will join you; so telling it to stop allowed you the gap to order that ship to fly away at a safe distance and await further instructions.

Once boarding was over their first command became null and they moved onto the next order which was my original order to leave the HOP Miner alone.
Once they get too close to the Vessel they became locked in combat with it until the ship is destroyed.

Firing the Pilot was my only option to save my Marines.

If they're far enough then they follow orders, but once they get within fighting distance then they will be locked in orders to kill.
