Unfinished Sector layout or just lazy?

Post by Elvenwolf »

I do not know if anyone has mentioned this.

One thing I have noticed while playing the game with and without mods is that in several sectors the environment seems either unfinished or lazily designed. As example one sector had squared shaped area of gases. Another sector had a small round area asteroids then a looooooong line along the highway of ore deposits. ... Here is my question... where the heck do you see in real space perfectly square area of resource or a very thin and long line of highly concentration of astroids? Even asteroids belts have a slight curve to it.

Don't get me wrong, some sectors are nicely designed but some sectors is a real head scratcher. No I am not expecting perfect realistic space design, but common... squared shaped gas cloud? :gruebel:

Nowhere. Just like you won't see asteroid belts of such density as in the game, or clouds dense enough to be visible at such short distance while seemingly not affecting matter moving through them. Or objects sitting still relative to each other and the planet below, while at the same time hundreds of km apart ;)

Yup, and it's a good thing games are not trying to simulate real space.

Immersion/gameplay > realism

Actually I reported the "resource zone square" as a bug, but Egosoft developer said this is not a bug, nor lazy - the resource zone is a sphere, but due to some kind of hardcoded limitation, too big zones are displayed as square instead of circle.

Aww come on man? I want to calculate the needed orbital circularization burn and orbital insertion speed to approach that station!

Ah, thanks for the information. Though would there be a chance for them to look at it again and maybe modify a bit to avoid the hardcode limitations?
