Ships ignoring orders? - Improvement in a future build
Hey all,
So, I just loaded my save this evening to be greeted by one of my Pilots saying they'd found a lock box. I tapped "f" and ordered them to ignore it. They ignored me *sigh*
The ship in question was docked at the same station I was on, indeed I'd flown there in that very ship. After I ordered it to Ignore the lock box it proceeded to add FOUR orders to its list:
Undock
Collect Lockbox
Dock and Wait
Flay and Wait
It's only the fact that I'd been on the ship that meant it asked for permission to take off, so could cancel the rogue orders.
Other than the disobedience, I wonder why this lock box was never spotted before, but only upon reloading my game? I was actually fully aware of it from my approach to the station.
Finally, perhaps I've missed some update notes, but can my Captain actually "collect" a lock box? Do they try to open it or what? No that this is what they were ordered to do.
Anyone else seeing this? Are there other orders that get ignored?
Scoob.

Re: Ships ignoring orders?
Yeah, now I know I did see exactly that as well. I thought maybe I pressed the wrong response hotkey, but I don't usually miss those keys. Now that you're mentioning it, it looks like I didn't.
EDIT: or maybe I clicked the response that time instead of using the hotkey, can't recall now. It was a couple days ago and I was willing to write it off as my own mistake, so didn't pay it much mind.

I manually clicked the order, so unless the game interpreted it wrong I know I ordered "Ignore".radcapricorn wrote: ↑Fri, 31. May 19, 21:08 Yeah, now I know I did see exactly that as well. I could try reloading the save again and again to test this, but I want to actually PLAY this evening for an hour or so.

Meh, there's no need I think. Either devs will see this and quickly test themselves, or it will happen again in our games, eventually, so we can verify.

Yes, it happened again, and indeed, both clicking and pressing "2" for "ignore" still make a fighter go for it. I made a report.

Re: Ships ignoring orders?
Check global orders is that autoset to ignore. Because if that is they most likely won't collect lock boxes I haven't seen it in my game but it could be a weird bug.Scoob wrote: ↑Fri, 31. May 19, 21:06 Hey all,

Global orders are set to Ignore and the explicit order was also Ignore, so it's a bug.nickolaiproblem wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Jun 19, 01:28 Check global orders is that autoset to ignore. Because if that is they most likely won't collect lock boxes I haven't seen it in my game but it could be a weird bug.

It is, it is. Last time it happened to me was while I was standing behind my pilot, traveling to another sector. He "found" a box and told me so, I said "ignore", he still dropped out of travel and started maneuvering, and had new orders to collect the box.

Re: Ships ignoring orders?
I'm looking at the script responsible for the response and...
Wow, are you kidding me?
Ships on "Explore" (also Auto Miners that are scouting for resources) collect anyways if they didn't actively ask the player and then the player actively told them to ignore it? (They don't even ask for common-grade lockboxes in the first place.)
Ships have a 20% chance to ignore any previous input/setting and still collect if they aren't the sector's police faction?
...Okay, the first one I can cut some slack. If they're exploring, they probably should be cracking open lockboxes and bringing the contents back home.
The second one? Not so much. Someone forgot the standard "not this.isplayerowned" in the condition block.
