Re: 2.50 Defense Drones -
I have the opposite problem. One of my defence drones has become sentient, gained a crew member, changed weapon type and even installed a S shield on it! I can order it anywhere I want including refitting the loadout. I even removed the drone unit from the Gorgon that launched it and it still exists, effectively making it a free ship as I was refunded for the drone unit sold.

Re: 2.50 Defense Drones -
Defence Drones are not meant to be able to be issued orders by the player. Their orders are meant to follow those of their commanding (launching) ship. When no enemies are in range they are meant to automatically reformate around the commanding ship and dock.
This logic is very buggy currently, especially when the commanding ship is itself a subordinate of another ship. For example my Gorgon Sentinel is a subordinate of a Colossus Vanguard. Somehow in this arrangement the Defence Drones forget they are defence drones and so can start to be ordered around like normal ships including being refited at warfs. At this stage one can remove the drone units from the commanding ship and the refitted drone will keep persisting.
At the very least removing all drone units should force it to despawn, but this is not the case.

Its broke, end of story! We need to be able to tell the drones for example: When to undock, not as soon as I target an enemy, they will undock while i'm fleeing while i'm checking the range to target.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Wed, 15. Don't care if design should be this or that, its garbage.
