Anyone still playing their original game start

Post by Kpla Keltak »

I am prob 600hrs into my original game start. 1.21 all vanilla.
I have all but eliminated the xenon. No choice because only hop stood half a chance against them in my game. They were running riot. So only a few invisible xenon stations left preventing sector ownership in a couple of sectors.
I have lots of multi item factories 60-120 million each. They all have extensive defences.
I have massive fortifications in my sectors near all gates. Active or not. 1000 plus L turrets and 30000 missions ready and waiting.
I have sector fleets, carrier forces and even a black fleet 😂 with crews trained.
I have large commercial empire with 100 million to 300 million in future trades lined up all the time.
I have boarded and stollen most of my freighters and a few destroyers.
I have shipyards and warfs.

Nothing to do. ☹️

So my question.

When is the next update due
Does anyone know what bugs will be sorted and what new features will be included.

Please send xenon reinforcements and do something with the docile pirates.

I’m so bored

Hi there!

I have only spent like 80 hours with my first start so still having a lot of problems with Xenon (I spent way to much time just hanging around and doing nothing).
For you I would propose this: If you do not mind having a modified save then maybe you should try the "Rise of the Ossian Raider" mod. Okay, probably they would be annihilated quite fast but at least there would be a short and minor challenge for you :)

Yep, you're done for...
but to answer your question: Yes. Big difference is that I'm not as ambitious as you. I'm not playing to conquer but making my stand as a faction minimizing impact on everyday life, slowly growing.

That is why I haven't eliminated the Xenon completely or anyone else. I am thinking about some mods to make the factions more aggressive - they are kind of stalling right now, don't know if my savegame is bugged - to put my defenses to the test and get some thrill into the game.

Thanks for the replies.

I definitely don’t want to use mods. I am just praying the next update will spark some life into things. Maybe activate a couple of gates with proper pirate sectors / rogue states or even the xenon home world.

In my initial game (v1.00 start) it was pretty much the other way around.
The Xenons got pummeled by pretty much everyone without me having to do so much as lift a finger. Then the wars between HOP and anyone else grinded to a halt, which removed a lot of fun.
I used that game to do a few experiments and to get acquainted withe the various gameplay elements, then restarted with 2.00.

Right now, after a few dozens hours, Xenons have a small foothold in HOP sectors but HOP are holding pretty well, all while waging war with ANT/ARG. They are a bit more passive on the PAR side as far as I can tell, but i'm not monitoring that closely. Xenons have also blown up half of HAT sectors, and I decided to step in to give HAT a chance. ARG are also contributing.

I have no idea what's happening as far as Xen/Tel was is concerned. My long term plans for Teladis does not include pacifism and mutual trades, so I didn't bother exploring.

So far so good!

Nope, I'm on game #3 already, even though I'm not playing at the moment (returned to From the Depths to update all my stuff for a change). No idea how many hours spent in total but it's well over 500 I reckon.

Game #1 (v1.0 - v1.2) was unmodded and rather unorganized, I was just playing to learn the game and tinker with all the gameplay functions with no real set goals. It was a rather peaceful game, deciding to stay friendly with the main factions and focus on pirate bashing (just like I did in my first X3 game) however, due to the hippie "pirates" not allowing for proper pirate wars like in previous X games, I decided to start a clean game with two essential mods (move PHQ and disable random encounters), with my drums of war beating towards the main factions instead.

With game #2 (v1.2 - V2.0) I went all-out conqueror once player shipyards became available, establishing a capital sector in Nopileos' Fortune and conquering the Pious Mists cluster + Sacred Relic from the Paranid. It was fun being able to build my own independent faction but, it was during all this conquering and full-scale war that the indestructible partially-built station issue reared it's ugly head in all it's glory. Tried all kinds of workarounds and edits in order to keep the game going but, it all just became too messy and bugged. I backed up this game, hoping to be able to continue it later on but, I decided to start a new game once more and try doing things in "damage-control mode" in an effort to avoid bugs and issues.

For game #3 (v2.0 - V2.2), I went into modding a bit more, tweaking weapon ranges, projectile velocities and also adding a few custom sectors. This time I built my empire in these custom sectors exactly the way I want it, all nicely organized with all sorts of military and civilian infrastructure besides "normal" stations. I left the main factions alone this time, getting my combat kicks from the Xenon and using the HAT as a stand-in pirate faction to bash until the SCA is fixed. The indestructible partially-built station issues became a problem once more unfortunately, with the number of bugged stations starting to grow more numerous. I planned my empire nicely this time around so I really want to keep this game clean and ongoing. I have therefore decided to put the game on hold for the time being until Egosoft can fix the gamebreakers. Better to wait and enjoy the game properly instead of burning out on it now whilst battling bugs and issues more than actual enemies.

I will probably pick it up again once the indestructible partially-built station bug is fixed, so far it's the only post-2.0 major issue that messes up the game, for me at least, other known bugs I can manage without savefile editing. I'll probably hold off till 3.0 (surely the aforementioned bug will be fixed by then).

Im still playing my original start aswell. About ~330 hours ingame.

The eliminated both Inamus Zura Xenon sectors on my own (at the time 2.0 was in beta).
The Teladi killed the Scale Plate Green Xeonon shipyard without my help.

HoP is invading their faulty logic sectors without my help.

The ARG Xenon getting killed by a rly huge ARG fleet instant after they jump into Hatikvhas.....

The Khaak don't leave their structures.

My ~300 Combatships are out of work. Sometimes i miss combat rank based spawns from X2/3.

My story is pretty much the same as the others,

First game 1.0.
I discovered the game and setup my main sector in nopileo II. I builder huge complexes and shipyards as soon as 2.0 was beta. I did many mistakes in the layout and the way I managed things. As I wanted to secure and own the system with my PHQ and also where my miners were extracting the methane and helium, I declared war to the teladi and took control of all the grand exchange trio. This is where the indestructible station and the lack of gate control brake my game. The teladi constantly kept rebuilding stations that they couldn’t finish and I couldn’t destroy them. They are using other faction builder to do so... even if you put huge defense stations in front of the gate, you cannot tell your stations turrets to fire any ennemies at range, making the control of the gate sector impossible. With the 2.5 beta I though it was a good opportunity to restart with my acquired knowledge.

So second start 2.5.
By far my most advanced game. This time I stolen and settle in hatikvah III because it has ALL ressources. I have all my stations and shipyards there. Fully self sufficient and autonomous. I have helped HOP to clear all xenon from faulty logic and beyond. Destroying all xenon shipyard / wharf. But again, xenon try to reconstruct and those stations are indestructible. An other issue is that even HOP is owning all those new systems, they are not doing anything with it.
I helped the xenon to take company regards and all Ianamus zura as I cleaned the stations with admin module from teladi there.
I helped hop to take all the cluster of pious mist and under (the 4 systems) leaving PAR with only 3 systems themself.
I am about to stop playing because of the exact same issue as in my first game. Indestructible stations and the lack of control at the gate and the inability to configure turrets behavior of the stations.

I am around a total of 900 hours of playtime.
And I am awaiting 3.0 to see what happen...

Egosoft you are loosing players on those big main issues. Please do something.

I'm still playing my original (started with v1.0) game - about 170 hours, but now I just log every 64h to collect Venture rewards. I'll probaly pick up the speed when 3.0 and Split DLC will be release.

I doubt it.
In the past, all DLCs for XR were backwards compatible. The gate just opens and you are done. You have to bear in mind that even when the DLC is already released, many people might buy the base game before purchasing the DLC later on.

Im at least at +-10days. Ingame counter.

Started the game on 1.5, vanilla.

Started to learn the ropes by building "my Empire" in Argons core sector but with the push of the HQ i moved over time where my HQ is located and since than builded my Cluster up, there. It has an Warf and Shipyard and a couple of station on top to supply building ships for myself and NPC. Nopilos Fortune will someday have an shiny new shipyard as well when its finished building lol.
Since 2.0 HOP made a big splash on Faulty logic II but lost steam recently. Yep from 4 fully active defense stations till zero. Xenon made an incursion into HOP core sector but HOP is gaining ground at this moment at Faulty Logic (2.5 vanilla). Two defense stations are still in HOP core sector but its only the plot no progress in the moment in building as far as i can tell.
Lizards are holding there ground on Iamus Zura... but are gaining more ground where Xenon Shipyard is located. This will be an hard nut since its loaded by the bucked with defense turrets last time i checked.
And there are still hicups between HOP/PAR and all the rest, nothing fancy.
Currently building my own "little fleet"... i have i think 150 s-class fighters, 1 carrier, 30-40 Destroyer class vessels, or so, lost count and the usual bunch of L-class miners and freighters, etc.
Till now i havent "hit" any faction or Xenon or taken over any sector that had an Owner except those that didnt belong to anyone.

If and when i start full scale invasion there are two options either i lose where i will rinse and repeat /rebuilding fleet or i dominate the Universe and call it a day.

This is actually worrying me. I planned to do just that.

Still have V1.x totally vanilla game going - I may have restarted once or twice early on but to date it is still the only X4 game save I am running (2k+ hrs - I think).

I have always played one game in X games. Still on my very first started in vanilla. All my faults, wrong doings, mistakes and miss build stations are there. It makes it more alive for me, it is more personal. If everything was prerfectly build and so on it would be a bit boring for me. Yes some stations are really dumb ( we all do those :D ) and I've watch some clips about those monsterstations people have cooked up (and the plans for them....jeebus they are huge!!) and tought maybe I should do the "perfect" station. But I will not. My main station, with wharfs/shipyards, is a really messy thing and thats what makes it mine, aaaalll mine! MINE I tells ya!...sorry got carried away
