Speed constantly drops to zero when using Joystick (Linux)

Post by Aron »

I can't figure out why this is happen or what command is causing the speed to drop, but it seems that there is some type of joystick axis or button press that is causing my speed to drop to zero when in flight.

It happens frequently, but it isn't always so it is difficult to find the root cause. Is there a way to capture the input commands to see what the game is thinking it should do? I do think that the Linux joystick support is buggy due to the use of Steam for inputs, in general.

You can perhaps use a process of elimination along these lines but it is a bit long-winded.

BTW, I have removed a commercial link from your signature. :sceptic:

When I had controller mode enabled, the target speed of my ship would snap to zero any time I switched from using mouse/keyboard control to gamepad control. So I'd guess that some device is sending non-gamepad input to the game and causing it to switch modes back and forth.

i can only guess that one of your joystik / gamepad axis is eventually defined as some kind of throttle.

not necessarily by the game it self but in the calibration menue of your system.

can you check if that is eventually the case and if you are able to manually disable that feature for your specific device if possible?
