Shipyard prices

Post by Falcrack »

When I first set up my shipyard, orders were pouring in and I was making big bucks. Now, orders have slowed to a trickle. I see I can set the prices I charge in the logical overview. Does When changing "construction prices for other factions" is set to 50% instead of 100%, will that increase the number of orders? Or will I just get paid less for the same number of orders?

Also, I have my shipyard in Second Contact Flashpoint. Most of the orders I get are for Argon. Most of my blueprints are Argon blueprints too. Would I get more HOP orders if I had more Paranid blueprints? Would they need to be the sentinel variants that HOP tends to use?

EDIT: Answered my own question. I bought a bunch of fighter blueprints from HOP, now I am swimming in HOP ship orders! Now swarms of HOP fighters are emerging from my shipyard and causing havoc in the sector! Of course, my reputation with ANT is not harmed one bit by all this...

And what is even better is that the more ANT ships HOP kills, the more ANT ships ANT will order from you! The only thing being harmed are the pockets of your trousers with all those credits  !

There is no reason one should lose rep for such behaviour seeing how it happens in real life all the time. The only issue is that usually the people buying have slightly more sense than to accept the keys for an expensive piece of military hardware just for it to be blown up as it leaves the factory... If the shipyard is in what appears as hostile space to an NPC it should request the ship be delivered to safe space, a procedure that should happen automatically and even have a nominal value boost for the order. Of course the ship belongs to you, but cannot be controlled, during this flight and you only get paid upon its arrival.

Always set all shipyards and wharfs to 150% cost, the empires keep the queues full regardless so theirs no reason to make less money. Once you have HOP and PAR blueprints, they will buy ships from each other and use them to turn your shipyard sector into a warzone. The game points players into aggression against the HOP, but they just make you so much money.

Holy Cow, I went and bought the standard PAR fighter ships, and now I have a huge queue of PAR and HOP ships at my shipyard. It really pays off to buy a diverse set of blueprints!

While on the subject of shipyards, is there any benefit to including a maintenance module in addition to a fabrication module? Or does the fabrication module already do everything the maintenance module does, plus construct ships?

Still saving up for a shipyard... How much did the initial set up cost you to get it off the ground?

250mil is a good amount to start your first wharf. Always make your wharf first before the main shipyard. 116mil for the s/m ship fab, about 100 mil for your first set of blueprints, plus extra so the station can buy wares. Buy HOP blueprints first, just the small and medium stuff, you can skip getting L/XL blueprints until later. Buy ALL of the blueprints, even the crappy mk1 and mk2 equipment that you yourself would never use because you need every option available for the empires as they random fit their ships. Set price in station logistical view to 150%, empires buy it up even at max price.
The HOP will then make you a few hundred mil an hour so you can buy the blueprints of all the other races. Empires want their own faction equipment, paranid want paranid shields and turrets, argon want argon equipment, etc. Once you have all the S/M blueprints, then its time for the shipyard.
For the shipyard your going to want a billion credits on hand which you can easily make once your wharf is up. When you get your main shipyard up, get the blueprints to make odysseus sentinels first above all else, the HOP will buy them endlessly. Repeat same method with the wharf in regards to obtaining all the blueprints.
The game changes dramatically when you put your first wharf up. Going from making a few million an hour to a hundred million an hour.

Not in my own game/Universe that i´m aware off but having one gives you more option for your own fleet... missels is one of those :D options for free if you make your own wares :D

Got enough funds for a Wharf and a load of blueprints for it, got it built and assigned traders...all good. But it says it needs scanning arrays, smart chips and advanced composites. That wouldnt be an issue except they dont appear in the logical overview for S/M fabrication and i cannot get my traders to auto trade for those either.

It suggests that I have to have a closed loop set up for those missing pieces - or have i missed something?
