Picking up containers from kills that had weapons and gear in them.
I like the concept of building mods, and I definitely would keep it. However, there was always a certain excitement about picking up a can while skating through a war-zone and discovering it held a cap-ship weapon worth a few hundred grand in it.
A few other things which would be cool to see return:
- those weird franken-ships from X:R - they were pretty cool, maybe construct 4 or 5 different franken-bodies, or two hulls with 4-6 attachment points for random pylons with shields/weapons on them and 2-4 attachment points for engines, and then RNG what's mounted on them. Mix them in with the pirate corvettes on the random spawn table (and when an SCA or HAT raider kills a freighter, start construction of one back at base)
- Ore and Silicon mines - it's cool to send miners out there, it would be extra-cool to re-introduce the mining stations
And from an "expandability" point of view, how about some jump-off points from the various empires leading to procedurally-generated random sectors/systems?
Just some thoughts.

Re: You know what I miss?
I have a better suggestion for this than random weapon containers, but it would require quite some work: Salvaging.
This would be a job, a ship class, a steady income source. Ships leave debris behind already. There would be this fourth type of ship class in terms of utility, the salvagers. They could operate manually (S/M) or by drones (L/XL).
Once a battle is over, salvager npcs would be quick to fill the immediate area. They would start tearing the debris apart. They would mostly get scrap metal out of this (that can be resmelted in scrap metal processing plants) but there would be a random chance for actual goodies, such as weapon modules.
If the universe happens to come to a armistice, fear not because the salvagers could utilize themselves in the low-yield debris fields too (those asteroid belts that contain debris, such as Argon Prime's).
I'm actually surprised this wasn't implemented in any vanilla X game so far.

Both good ideas, but last one I really would like to see too but do not forget the crap the AI sometimes sells, flying into Asteroids without damage, or perfectly normal flying through stations and ships... (yeah, they told me on steam-forum that it does damage, and that they disabled the collision or that it is too hard to program, so, I heard all)repatomonor wrote: ↑Thu, 4. There is so much that can be better, personnel standing in consoles, flying pilots without a ship, big ships engines damage will affect their speed (and maneuverability; say again? why do we have thrusters ???

A lot must change, and I personally do not care about the future possibility to send my ship away over the internet, what a crap idea..... I am playing this game, and not someone else playing with my ships... (sounds EGO-istic?

If EGOSOFT wants this game to be the best there is, when will this "best there is" is coming to the public???
Ps. Computers can make errors, they are made and programmed by error-making humans.

Would be nice if ship equipment was a normal ware which could be transported, sold and equipped on the fly.
Having to go through the queue misery every time one wants to change a ship is not helping the experience.

Are you still on ventures a thing that people either just disable or ignored as feature. Terrans are gone this is explicitly set far past the separation paranid empire as well Terran empire. I'm pretty sure that Antigone republic and argon are the Terran factions. You have continuously shoot at a station in order for them to go red also If that seems like problem you know you can switch your fire controls right like you can move weapons down a bar and just use your mouse for flying. Or better yet just fly away usually after a few minutes they forget and don't care anymore. Could please explain what talking about when you say this? "Why is everybody either nice or not"Mr.Killer wrote: ↑Sun, 7. Nope, Forum tells me that this is also not programmed... I start to hate this evasive behavior of people who think it is normal... Where are the Terrans? Why is everybody either nice or not, but to ask the right question is out of bound, can't tell a ship "I'm sorry I shot you!" while the AI is never too slow to tell me that they are sorry for hitting me, no, they turn red and rep is gone.... ONE MISTAKE!!!!!!

Not a bad idea and honestly it could easily be tacked on to a update could you elaborate on what type equipment you want to see.

There's at least a couple zones for which this would be a literal gold mine - that is, if pre-existing wrecks could be used as resources.repatomonor wrote: ↑Thu, 4. Apr 19, 04:34 I have a better suggestion for this than random weapon containers, but it would require quite some work: Salvaging.
Maybe with a small chance of learning a blueprint.
Then again, I want reverse-engineering as well, for blueprint acquisition.

Well the idea is that pregenerated wrecks would be extremely low yield, signifying the vulture-like behaviour after battles.Mileron wrote: ↑Wed, 10.
