Auto Trade Requirements?

Auto Trade Requirements?
I have a pilot flying my Vulture Vanguard.He has 3 stars under "pilot." I go to the behavior tab and autotrade is greyed out. What other requirements are there? I'd like to try auto trading.

Its overall 3 stars not just pilot...you will probably find he/she is only 1 star manager or enginerring...keep looking..best way to train someone up is in a small courier beasause of the way the logic works they are better able to sell a full hold instaed of only a percentage..this means they level quicker.

I am not sure what you mean by "overall." Do you mean they have to have 3 stars in everything?
I'm not sure how to train each individual skill either. He's been trading full loads on his vulture for about 8 hours.

no not everything...at the top is the overall rating...that should be three stars..just the piloting skill being at three stars isn't enough...that will only give I think an Overall 2 star rating I dont know what the mechanics are but if your Piloting is at three it also need Some skills in other areas to create an OVERALL three stars..say 1 In engineering or morale or boarding or management

this guy would make a good manager starting a new complex..give him 3gates on trading and mining staright out the gate

Piloting 4.0
Morale 3.0

Boarding .3
NB the .3 maybe .5 I know they played with the way that skill are shown in a recent update..but that should demonstrate the point
Training staff up takes a very very long time..keep checking back on your station traders eventually you can promote them to free trading....but not in 8 hours

And dont forget when you set up the aurotrade options ..make sure to have the ship in the sector you want to base him/her out of..where its started from governs its range of operations..you cant set it up in second contact vii then send it to holy vision..send to holy vision first then set up the autotrade command eg
