I've played two starts for over 230 hours. My first game [1.0] ended due to a bug that failed to show any guidance markers for the Argon/Xenon guild quest line thus making it impossible to progress them. I started again few weeks back with 2.0 and have again had to abandon the game due to two game breaking bugs. I filed a support thread here nearly two weeks ago:
viewtopic.php?f=180&t=415372
I waited for either 2.2 to fix the issues or even the chance that Ego would look at the save file and maybe suggest a workaround or fix the save file somehow so I could continue. Neither has happened.
Don't get me wrong, I can deal with bugs so long as there is some way, any way, to circumvent them but with these two problems there does not appear to be any way to get round them, I have no agency to force a solution. In the one case I have no control over the bugged build storage unit, I can't move it, empty it, destroy it or replace it, and in the other I am charged with delivering several thousand units of a ware to a sector that doesn't demand that ware and I have no agency to create that demand. This has probably happened because the mission specs are fixed but the game set up it to some extent random so it's not surprising that this sort of thing can happen.
My heart sinks a the prospect of grinding through another 100 hour build up to get back to my current position for a third time from scratch, but what really kills this for me is that I just don't have any confidence anymore that the same thing or something similar won't just happen again. It's such a terrible pity because X4 in general plays great, but with deep regret I cannot recommend it now to anyone. I have to walk away.
With much regret I think I'm finished with X4.

Sorry that nobody responded to your tech support thread so far. We do try to assign these things accordingly, but given who can investigate and how busy they are with other things, it can take some time to get addressed. Still, we'd like to let you know that it has been noticed. Those issues are things I can look into, so when I'm able to investigate, I'll update the tech support thread with anything I find. I do have a question about the build storage issue, but I'll put it in the other thread just so it's all together.
Come watch me on Twitch where I occasionally play several of the X games

I wouldn't be worried about people dropping X4.
I dropped the XR after release for over 2 years - when I returned the game actually become fun.
In my subjective feeling X4 patching is somehow 2 or 3 times faster than XR, so I think dropping X4 and getting back in 1 year wouldn't be a bad idea.
Around 4.0 and with 2 DLC this game will become worthy sucessor of X3 - also around that time we should have some quality mods poping out.
