Hi, every time I went to an engineering or security, I hardly found anyone there and nothing in there is usable.
So right now, they are useless. Will it stay that way or will it change at one point?

You need the right crafted equipment in order to see the interactivity of the various monitors in those rooms.
Basically, you can compromise the station's defences and manufacturing inside those rooms. Pretty handy if you are planning an undetected sabotage.

If you have some station hacking to do, it's the place to be.
Quite strange how lax the security is.

Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.
Some people never develop beyond this stage.

To be fair, nobody expects that someone just strolls in the security room randomly and pushes all kinds of buttons.

With the right hacking tools, you can establish all kinds of mayhem. For example, say you have a mission to deliver XYZ foodstuffs to stations in this sector, but since there's a food producer in-system everyone is fully stocked. Pick the station with the biggest load of cargo, and hack their cargo terminal. Suddenly, they need food because their crates are all over space and you can complete your mission.
Or, say, you need to blow some turrets away, but those pesky things keep shooting back at you...hack the proper terminal and they will be paralyzed for a convenient period...
Let your mind wander

I go around hacking trade terminals for more discounts
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Now and again I will hack particular shipyards or wharfs. Get them to dump a whole load of wares from storage. Stops ship production and make me a lotta money, as my local producers sell to them.
MIN for me is a good target. Helps raise reputation from trade.

Don't try to outweird me, three-eyes. I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

After I fill up all the trade station's nividium orders, I hack it back out into space so I can mine it again.
