Hi, since at one point it will be hard to build any ship at all, why not have a MOD that would allow the player to ask any NPC ship to contract him for either doing trading or mining?
The NPC would ask for a commission based on selling price for trading and based on the mining's worth.

you can always buy trade ships from ALI Wharf
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Meaning ?
I have not yet explored the whole galaxy. So I do not recall seeing any ALI faction.
What is different from an ALI Wharf then an Argon/Teladi/Paranid Warf? Doesn't suffer also from the lack of enough goods to build ships?

Not sure how much it's relevant to 2.2 economy, but I'd love something like this in a mod using surplus ships and inventory as a QoL improvement.
-Station with big surplus of mining mats leases mining runs from it's fleet directly to an allied station via mission
(balances specific stock without -subjectively- excessive effort from player bypassing station manager, at a high cost)
-Substantially higher cost than trade value, so player traders are still far superior in the long run
(You don't have a trade ship and need it asap? Prepare your wallet to be boarded!)
-Automated mining/delivery mission to said station needs safe route
(so the player can't send their ships to their deaths
)
Effective use of ships and overstock with better performance as a bonus
