Cant Assign vendor to ship fab

Ok I've built two separate ship fabrication stations. One I assigned a vendor without issue, however the one I attached to the player HQ is non functional due to having no ship trader assigned. Any personal I try to reassign I just get the red "This person cannot be assigned to this station" message even though they are already on it....Any ideas?

That sounds like an issue in this older thread (just for background). There used to be similar issues under some circumstances regarding Station Managers and there are several threads about that (example).
