Heh riddle me this this
why does the minotaur raider icon on the map look like a miner instead of a frigate?

Re: Minotaur Raider
And how do you acquire it?
Can't build any rep with Scale Plate to buy it (even after building SCA a shipyard).
Would really like to add it to my collection...

Second contact VII ..gib into the sector carrying something expensive like a couple of claytronic or adv electronic anything like that ...it should do the normal pirate thing ..then make him bail that how i got mine....this was before the whole EVA bug though

Re: Minotaur Raider
Gonna try it! Rapidly running out of things to do until the Split launch.
Now if ES can just add in reverse engineering like in X3. Would be a lot more satisfying to cap ships and RE at your HQ/Shipyard to start mass producing them.
(and make Xenon cap-able!)

Re: Minotaur Raider
Two basic ways - board/claim one, or buy the ship blueprints from HAT and build one.

Apparently, you can gain ship blueprints through a space suit scan after EMP bombing them.
I do agree that RE-ing at player Shipyards/Wharfs would be nice, as would salvaging of ships to ship building materials.

Didn't realize you could buy the Raider from the HAT!
Also gonna go EMP some Xenon now.

Re: Minotaur Raider
I doubt if that will work, some blueprints are seemingly unobtainable.

Re: Minotaur Raider
Yea, didn't work.
Scanned all 4 EMP points on a K, nothing happened.
Traditionally, Xenon ships were described as having empty cockpit space for humans (was in the X3 encyclopedia IIRC).
As of 2.0, you can't even do a boarding op on a K, and I believe pre2.0, you could board op, but it always failed.
Oh well, gonna go EMP a Raider now.

With 3.0, we will get increased research options. Maybe the ability to reverse engineer ships and stuff will be made an option at this time?Roger L.S. Griffiths wrote: ↑Sun, 17. Mar 19, 17:30Apparently, you can gain ship blueprints through a space suit scan after EMP bombing them.

Went and got the Bluprint...wots interesting which could also explain the Icon is that in its description as in "Miner" its actually listed as "Scavenger"

Re: Minotaur Raider
Ironically EMPing and scanning a Xenon K/I used to give you control of it due to a bug. Fortunately this has now been fixed, however if you see player owned K/I on some missions that is how those players got them in their saves.
One just has to police scan the Minotaur Raider ships to turn them into SCA. You can then happily open fire on them and most factions will even pay you for any kills you make in their space.
If you want Minotaur Raider pilots to bail, use a singular Ion blaster along with 4 chain or pulse lasers on a Nemesis Vanguard. Shoot off shields and 75% of hull then keep poking it with the ion blaster until it bails. Ion blaster does so little damage that the crew will likely repair faster than it can damage the ship.

Re: Minotaur Raider
I'm rather sure that weapon choice has NOTHING to do with the probability of bailing. There is also no direct relation between the speed of hull destruction and bailing. The only reproducible indicator if and when a ship will bail is the number of crew. If it gets lower when damaging the hull, then and only then it will eventually bail.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Mon, 18. It would be nice if the audio comments of the captain would mirror reality in any way...

There's a chance of bail (and apparent moral drop of the crew members in X4) every time they're struck by a weapon. By using the ion blaster, you get to have a roll of that dice without actually damaging the hull.RainerPrem wrote: ↑Mon, 18. Probability of a bail increases inversely with hull strength.
It's been that way since X3 and probably earlier (I can't remember back that far...)

Re: Minotaur Raider
You are correct, weapon choice and speed of hull depletion does not effect bail chance. Hence why I never said it did.RainerPrem wrote: ↑Mon, 18. The reason to use an Ion blaster is purely because it does so little hull damage that you can constantly proc bail rolls on a ship for an extended period without destroying the ship. Other weapons may slowly ware down the targets hull until a point that one can only ask them to surrender without risking the destruction of the ship.
Basically when shields are below 20% of maximum (or no maximum) and current hull is below 75% of maximum then a bail roll is performed. There is a cooldown between rolls (1 second? unsure) meaning that poking with a single gun is as effective at procing them as with multiple guns. It also means that for someone to bail reliably an extended period of time may be required, during which time one wants to be constantly landing hits without destroying them. Hence using pulse/chain guns to reduce hull to 75% and then constantly poking with ion blaster (very low hull damage) yields fantastic results. I have forced well over 70 ships to bail like this.
One also wants to maximize bail rolls themselves. Best rolls are obtained when your ship's maximum hull is equal to or lower than the enemy ship since this gives one no disadvantage (100% of roll chance). Otherwise one's roll chance is reduced by a factor of the percentage that the enemy maximum hull is with regard to one's ship's maximum hull. Additionally this roll is reduced by 50% for L and XL ships and by 75% for other player owned but not player flown ships. There is also a reduction based on one's ship's current total toughness over theirs, again capped with best results (highest roll chance) when one's ship has equal to or greater than their current total toughness.
Hence Nemesis Vanguard is good since it is the lowest hull variant of the Nemesis so gives good bail roll chances for M ships. Nemesis Vanguard is not good when bailing S ships, use a Quasar or other glass cannon S ship to maximize those. Like wise Nemesis Sentinel is not good for bailing M ships since it has more maximum hull so gives sub optimal bail rolls.
The same chance for bailing occurs when the target is at 74% hull as it does at 4% hull. Additionally smaller maximum hull of your ship is capped to at most no reduction when it is equal to or less than the enemy ship.Probability of a bail increases inversely with hull strength.
I pulled this all from the underlying scripts located in md/Notifications.xml.
