Sector revealed without player input

I haven't yet visited Morning Star, and yet it's somehow on my map, with a small portion of fog removed (but nothing displayed in that revealed spot). I know that ships can "accidentally" go through gates while player is in-sector (saw it happen when my ships did combat near a gate), but if that's how that sector got revealed, why isn't anything marked on the map?

Could you maybe have gone through an anomaly which sent you there? It sometimes happens that you get sent through to anomaly again after exiting one.
