Deciphering Log Dates

Can somebody please explain the dates/numbers in the logs and the load save menus.

An example 825-02-24 17.59 the actual date and time was 10/03/2019 at 22.45.

I know that the UK has a different way of putting the date than some other parts of the world, but this makes no sense.

That's in-game date and time. 825 is 825 NT (New Time, i.e. Argon year). Add 2170 to convert to Terran years, it's the year 2995. The rest is usual, month, day, time.
