Deliver [5x ship] war-mission - Do I sell the ships?
There are these missions where you have to deliver ships to a faction but the ships cost way more then what they are paying me for it. I was wondering if they keep the ships or are they just paying us for the ships to be in the specific sector they are asking us to?
First Option is loosing Money, second option is free money. I can imagine them being lucrative when you have a shipyard, though.

Pretty sure you just get what the reward says. I did my first one last night and some of the ships even required mods. From the looks of it you only have to fit what they tell you to fit on there though so you dont need to fit all those extra guns and shields and stuff on.

1x Colossus: 18 Million
1x Behemoth: 10 Million
3x Frigates: 6 Million
---
Sum: 34 million credits
Payment: 21 million credits.
That's a heavy net loss, even without considering the components they want to have installed, the ships would cost 27 Million at minimum.
Still at a loss here

Re: Deliver [5x ship] war-mission - Do I sell the ships?
You hand the ships over to the client by getting all ships into the objective area and handing them over when prompted to get the reward. It does not count any ship you are currently piloting for the hand over, so you might have to teleport away if manually positioning ships for it to register the required ships in the objective area.
These missions will lose you a lot of money if buying the ships from NPC shipyards and warfs. This is because the NPC shipyards and warfs have an insane markup on Chassis.
My PAR shipyard is selling a Zeus Vanguard Chassis for 18,462,424 credits. A Zeus Vanguard Chassis costs 3,493 Energy Cells and 12,295 Hull Parts to build. In the worst case, maximum price, the cost of Energy Cells is 22 and Hull Parts is 408.
Self Build -> 3,493 * 22 + 12,295 * 408 = 5,093,206
Buying from PAR -> 18,462,424
PAR markup = 18,462,424 / 5,093,206 = ~3.62 = ~262% more
And this is assuming worst case (most expensive possible). In reality you will likely be paying 3M or less to make your own Zeus Vanguard Chassis since you get reputation discounts and can take advantage of high supply to buy closer towards minimum price rather than maximum price. Hence these missions make an absolutely stupid amount of profit if you self build the ships, but cost you a ton of money if you buy in ships from the NPC.
The problem is currently there is no warning that these missions require a shipyard to be profitable. Hence people might be lured in to accepting them not realizing that they are several game time days off from being able to complete them with a profit.

Re: Deliver [5x ship] war-mission - Do I sell the ships?
I don't know if these missions are fixed and they now actually take control over the ships you deliver, but when I did one some releases ago they didn't, I bought the ships they requested and they only requested some shields and engines equipped, delivered those ships, mission updated, but then I had to use those ships to capture a destroyer.. ahahahahaha....
that was a major
. So yeah, by the idea, ships supposed to be transferred to the requesting faction as a war effort initiative... I ended up sending those ships back to wharf and equipping them, then I went to capture the destroyer mission and they blew up the destroyer instead of capturing, because even though the command to capture was given and the destroyer changed designation, they'd continue shooting at it... blowing up the destroyer of course bugged my war effort mission from progressing. AI in this game is so buggy in many cases, it's stupid...

Agreed. In 1.6 the NPC faction never took possession of the ships and would payout when only the frigates/corvettes arrived at the designated spot. So in essence you could just build the three or 2 medium ships, have them fly to the spot and you get paid and keep the ships. Took me a few tries to figure out that the ships I build were still just sitting there where I left them showing as mine. Very lucrative bug for a short while and served to bolster my fleet. Now of course in 2.0 that is fixed from what I can see. You have to deliver all 5 ships to the spot and then get paid. Like you pointed out, big loss especially for the Argon vs Xenon build where they want damage mods on the Cerbs. Needless to say I don't do that mission any longer.1Tamina wrote: ↑Thu, 7. IMO you are helping the war effort, this is like a donation to the war effort.. at least thats how I would see it, not to profit from (unless you build them or capture them)

You forgot to factor in the 160mil cost of the Zeus Blueprint.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Thu, 7. Fly the ship into the desired zone (they'll give you a sphere on your map to park in). Make sure you're not in the cockpit. At that point they'll automatically query you (same as like when talking to person), and give you the option to give the ship.Tamina wrote: ↑Thu, 7. I don't remember offhand, but I'm fairly certain you get the exact amount they offered in the mission; no plus usual shipyard sell price.

Or the 250 million for the XL Shipyard...You forgot to factor in the 160mil cost of the Zeus Blueprint.
That said one can ignore these costs since those things pay for themselves to some extent thanks to AI orders. If you already have the Odysseus Vanguard plans for self building and selling to PAR then you effectively get a very cheap hull and the mission makes a ton of profit, which can offset the cost of the Warf, L, XL Shipyard, plans etc.

Can't you obtain those for free?Imperial Good wrote: ↑Fri, 8. Mar 19, 09:52Or the 250 million for the XL Shipyard...You forgot to factor in the 160mil cost of the Zeus Blueprint.

No you cannot. All "Build" class modules can only be obtained by purchasing the plans from a faction representative. They do not generate data leaks and even if you force them to have some with an EMP they still will not yield plans.

You also cannot obtain the ship equipment any other way except paying a couple 100 mills.radcapricorn wrote: ↑Fri, 8. Mar 19, 09:55Can't you obtain those for free?Imperial Good wrote: ↑Fri, 8. Ship BPs were possible to acquire for free before 2.0, i'd guess that hasn't changed.
I had the PAR capship blueprints immediately available when 2.0 released because i EMP'd them in 1.6.

Ah, so strictly chassis then. The rest looks like quite an investment indeed.

Think it's because ES implemented the ownership change, but forgot to rebalance rewards accordingly.

VERY good to know! I've been buying up many of the Small/Medium ship blueprints, saving all the L/XL for later after my Wharf has me rolling in the cash to start building the big toys.pref wrote: ↑Fri, 8. Had no clue you could emp scan the BP for ships! Time to get back to farming Lodestones again.
