[REQ] Weapon activation based on distance to target

Hello,

is it possible to MOD a combat software which automatically enables and disables the primary (and/or secondary) weapons based on their ability to reach the target?
Sometimes you have different main weapon loadouts and it would be great if the ship computer would just shoot with the weapons which actually are able to hit the target.
