How to support shipyards in 2.0
So i have a huge factory, which i built for days to supply shipyards.
Great.
But all my traders have a range of 4 at best. How do i actually supply those shipyards? Do i need to micro every f'ing trade run?
So far ATs kinda worked with 0 buy and 20+ sell distance - but what now?
Is there crew training?

Unfortunately an undocumented change in 2.0 beta was the nerfing of trader ranges, without the corresponding ability to a) buy better trained pilots or b) train them
Ok for a new game maybe but not cool for an existing game imo...
The semi-flippant answer to your query (given its 2.0) is probably:
- build your own shipyards next to (or as part of) your mega complex, and have the factions order the ships, rather than the materials, from you directly ^_^

Pity.
Perfect idea to implement restrictions without the means to overcome them. This whole skill system should be just removed until ES finished its development.
Have lots of traders trading for 100s hours, and none gained any skills... okay maybe 1-2 guys got a star or 2, but that's it.
Hope i'll have some time to mod otherwise i'll have to shelf the game until it's finished.

Been testing this out on a 2.8 star trader -.- over 10 runs of smartchips manual buy/sell and not a slight movement in the cpt's level. I say 2.8 as its a slither of a pixel away from 3 stars lol.pref wrote: ↑Tue, 26. Feb 19, 22:45 Pity.

Sorry about the range limit, I thought that this would cause some issues :/
However you are using your traders to sell to stations or move stuff to your ship yards? If its moving stuff would distribute wares work for you? I have never used it so I could be talking out my rear end

I have no way to limit the distribute wares command to buy from my station. Nor can i adjust sell range so it stays in the shipyards' radius.
Can't even grasp why ES introduced this limit. Maybe they got salty because of all the complaints

One suggestion is to set up a trading station for wares distribution
Placed between the compex and the shipyards, with lots of storage and 1 production module for each ware you want to distribute, its traders (or local autotraders) might be able to buy from your complex and sell to the shipyards...

While my problem isn't the same, the title is about supporting shipyards so I wont make another post. I've build my S/M facility at my big city (L and X/L comes later) but the "Build Ships" is gray when trying to issue build command in the map interface. My city has about all components that it builds itself, expect for a few. But that shouldn't stop me from ordering a ship and then just wait that my traders collect the rest. Is there something else I need to activate the "Build Ship" option?
Oh and I have a bunch of Blueprints for small argon ships...almost all..

Do you have a ship dealer assigned at the station? As far as i read in a different thread, you need one to be able to build ships.dholmstr wrote: ↑Wed, 27. Yeah i was thinking about this, to have a logistic centre every 3-4 sectors - but it's a lot of work.caltrop wrote: ↑Wed, 27. Feb 19, 09:51 One suggestion is to set up a trading station for wares distribution

And now the station makes nearly no money, incomes have been reduced extremely.
During the same time on 1.6 i made 1.5bills, while in 2.0 1-200mill.
From eco pov building stations seems like a complete waste of time unless one finds setting up trade runs manually, one after another an enjoyable experience.
Think i'll just mod this stupid limitation out when i got the time for it, or just leave the game when my current build project is done for a while.

Re: How to support shipyards in 2.0
Does your mega city makes only 200mil now? Or all your stations? Because complex income was round a bout cutted in half not by 10. I would guess, that your traders do not reach all customers anymore. And/or the customer do not reach You anymore?pref wrote: ↑Wed, 27. Re: How to support shipyards in 2.0
From what I read during the beta, stations make less money but are now cheaper to build, and ship building profits were increased as a result, so it’s a further incentive to reach the top of the value chain I.e build shipyards and sell shipspref wrote: ↑Wed, 27.
