v1.60 330622 Defense station not attacking an I

My defense station with 216 Medium shard and 262 Large Beam Turrets seems content to have a Branch 9 I parked in front of it. Am I missing something? Is there a way to assign a defense officer I haven't found?

I noticed stations only fire if directly attacked.
Kinda voids the purpose of defense stations though....
