1.60 GPU/FPS Bug - Possible fix in 2.0

Hello everyone! I'm having an issue with the game right now. Two actually. First:

While playing X4, regardless of where or what I'm doing (read: not a map issue etc), my frames will go from 60 to 1fps. It will stay at 1fps for a few seconds (the game is frozen, as is the mouse, though I can alt tab out) before it picks up where it left off. This happens every minute or two in playing, but I feel like with the last few patches it got worse (as in, this is the worse it's been - before, I could play for half an hour without getting the same style of freeze). So it changed from an intermittent problem, to one that makes my save unplayable.

No mods, or scripts. Probably about 200 hours on this save game. I do have a mega station, though as far as I could tell my system could handle the performance hit and I didn't see any unreasonable FPS issues around it (ditto for map).

My save game is from around release, but my game is patched up to date. Changing video settings doesn't impact the issue occurring.

The last thing I was trying to do in my game was (I think) build a decorative spaceweed station with over 20 landing pads 8)

I started a new game to test if it was the save, and the game runs fine without any stutter. I'm not sure what or how to post a log/error report - so I'll just post a screenshot of MSI Afterburner which tells the story on behalf of my GPU :)

While in-game my FPS will drop to 1FPS, in MSI Afterburner my GPU Usage is actully dropping to 0%. So it's not the game lagging my card, which is really curious! My card is kicking out for no reason, and it only occurs playing this game.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to solve this problem, and if anyone could give me some insight i'd super appreciate it! With all the fluctuation happening on my GPU because of these problems I don't think it's wise to play the game until I figure out what's happening! Cheers folks, happy X4ing for the rest of you!


The second problem is for sure a super easy bug to figure out for anyone I think. I assigned a construction ship to build a station in Hewa's Twin IV The Cove, but due to some issue in the assignment what happens is the modules count down from 1:00 to -1:00 and back without ever completion. I was able to assign another faction's construction ship to the station though the problem persisted. If I change the arrangement of the modules, or try to remove any other very weird glitchy problems happen as well and I'm unable to use/complete that station.

A good start would be to upload a savegame somewhere and provide a link, so that we can see whether it's something actually happening within the game or something specific to your system.

Thanks. It is really best to have just one issue per report thread though as different devs work in different areas.

I also loaded nudasveritas game and had the exact same problem as in my game. Is it possible that this happens because we have bulit to many stations/ships? I started to note the problem when i started to build huge stations and at the same time I ordered a bunc of new ships.

same problem here.....
7-10 megastations....a bit laggy.....
order around 140 mineral magnetars and 140 gas magnetars from agon prime....the stutter begins....-.-

Yes, there is an issue which can cause stutters (rather large ones at that) when building stations with a large number of modules. We do have a fix in the upcoming 2.0, so when the beta comes out, feel free to see if it solves your issue.
