BUG - "Explore" command results in straight-line flight out of sector

Post by Dystroxic »

Version and language (e.g. 1.0 English, etc.).
Whether or not your game is modified using any third party scripts or mods (see note below).
Game start being played.
Exact nature of the problem, where and when it occurs and what you were doing at the time.
Any possibly relevant changes you have made to your game, system, or software before the issue occurred.
Where appropriate, additional symptoms, error messages, links to screenshots and crash dump files (see this FAQ entry).
Your system specifications in the form of a DxDiag report and vulkaninfo (see this FAQ entry).

Version: 1.50
No modifications/scripts
Game start: ex-military one
No changes to game or system, completely vanilla.
Problem:
I bought a ton of little scout ships and gave each one the "Explore" command in the middle of a sector. I come back hours later, and most of them have made these weird straight lines WAY outside of the normal bounds of the sector (tens of thousands of kilometers in some cases). See screenshot below; you can see these weird straight lines (with some 90 degree turns) where they just pilot themselves like idiots out into the middle of nowhere. The only reason they appear to be heading back in this screenshot is because I manually told them to come back.

So two problems really:
1) This is clearly a bug, that they go in a straight line forever.
2) There needs to be some way to manually set the zoom level of each sector map, because now that they have all flown so far, it's all zoomed out so much that I can't see a darned thing!

I think they are aware of the behaviour of the explorers.

They do that line when they finish to explore the sector, and they get out of the borders. I think they use the time to watch Toy Story and they are huge fans of Buzz Lightyear.

And they don´t seem to use the scanner, but as i said, from the top of my head, i think they are aware.

Already fixed in 1.6B3. Also Explore command is available at level 0 for explorers, so no longer is there a need for starting Autotrade to train pilots. The only complaint I have is that the pilot takes too many long breaks while doing his job (like me,at work:-) ). The long and frequent break makes the explorer vulnerable to attacks!!!!!

Interesting, I didn't see that in the 1.6B3 patch notes. Do you know if there's anything in the patch to reset the sector zoom level, or am I stuck with scrolling for 5 mins on every sector now?

is then the default behavior buged since you cant choose explore without 3 starts, but you can start explore with right click>explore???
Im asking because I always used default and all my pilots are now 3 starts so cant test
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

The new explore command was available previously, but the problem was that it was useless, since it requires level 3, which kind of defeats it's usefulness as a tool to level up rookie pilots.

As for the map zoom problem, I don't know, sorry.

Yeah, it was a bug in 1.50, I believe, and then Ego changed it so that the context menu command requires level3 (thus making it useless), and now the pendulum swings back!!!
