Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas, Keybindings Help Needed

Post by Lankoran »

Hi All, I'm a returning fan of the X series and dying to get my hands on the game. However, im having issues binding my (low end) HOTAS up the way i'd like and was wondering if anyone had a solution,

For other games (no names named) I'm able to bind my HOTAS keys as though they are modifiers, for example, when Shift is used with another key, (Shift + A, Shift is a modifier) However, in the X4 settings i am unable to do this with my HOTAS buttons, they instantly recognise as single keypresses and don't allow me to use modifying keys with them, so for example i couldnt bind shift + button 5 of my HOTAS, Likewise, i'm not able to use button 5 + any of the other buttons on the HOTAS as i would like.

And example here, in previous space titles i've been able to use button 5 and the rudder controls to control my strafe, i.e right rudder strafe right, left rudder strafe left, button 5 + right rudder to strafe down, and button 5 + left rudder to strafe up, This is what i was hoping to do with X4, however i cant currently figure out how to do it.

I know Shift, and Control are recognised as modifiers somewhere, but no idea how, if at all i can add other keys to that exlusive list :S

Any advice?

The Thrustmaster documentation isn't very good, but might make more sense if I had the hardware here to experiment with. http://ts.thrustmaster.com/faqs/eng/thr_eng_00124.pdf page 9/12 describes a procedure which could potentially help? I don't know if it will accept multiple control inputs (to use one as a modifier) in that context.

I'm not aware of a way to assign a modifier key within X4.

I wonder if windows has some function that will allow that. I'll google some more.

Edit: Which flavor of windows do you use?

Sorry didnt post spec as figured it wouldnt be useful but its Windows 10 i had looked through the manual that was supplied with the hardware, which i think is the same as your link but hadn't seen anything relevant, the programing only seems to move one function to another from what i can gather from what i read. but im thinking i'll just use the stick rotation for side to side strafe for now, its only really for docking so i can cope with it. Thanks for your help though!
