Hard freeze, game does not recover and has to be forcefully closed. Process constantly use 13% cpu with no apparent changes to memory working set delta.
IIRC there is a patch note regarding boarding freeze for new beta, but I'd like to stay non-beta for now and this was reproducable so I'm adding this in case it is something different that hasn't been fixed
I have reproduced it 6 or so times using the following steps:
Start game
Load save (see below)
Target the SCA Plunder Behemoth Vanguard (CQK-214) in front
Press F to bring up context menu
Click board
Leave 'Target engines' as behavior
Use the 11 Recruits and 3 Veteran marines (from two other ships in squad)
Launch pods at 'Weak'
Breach hull at 'Medium'
Click Start Operation
Close the boarding UI
Wait about 30 to 45 seconds (I think its the transition between stage I and II)
Game fully freezes, including cockpit animations

Have a read of this thread and see if it is the same issue. If so, then the 1.51 beta 1 seems to have fixed it.

Realizing I can just go back to non-beta I installed the beta to test this. I can indeed not reproduce this in 1.51. (Sounds and music however was a bit "off". Cant quite put my finger on it, but everything sounded more "canny" as if played at a lower quality. That is a different matter though, maybe I'll record some comparisons for the beta feedback forum)
