Weapons greyed out and wont fire

It seems that no matter what ship I use (small or medium), once I make it I can use the weapons for about a day, then they are greyed out and I can't fire them using space bar (both primary and turrets are greyed out).
I'm really getting tired of this I can't fight and I get killed a lot. Losing patience with this game. Am I doing something or not doing something to make them come back online so I can use them???

It sounds like you've removed the weapons from your current weapon group, or alternatively have selected a different weapon group that doesn't contain them.

It does sound like that. To test if that's your problem, while in a ship and experiencing the problem, try the 1, 2, 3, or 4 keys on your keyboard to switch weapon groups and see if that helps. You can also press Enter to bring up the ship menu where you can see the weapon group assignment section and control which weapons are tied to which of the four weapon groups.
