[Probable Bug 1.5]Pilots not retaking control after personally flying a ship
I've had it happen several times. Bought a Helios Sentinel and everything seemed fine. I decided I wanted to try out flying it see how it handles and did so. Now, the ship is pilot-less. The pilot will not retake control so If I want it to do anything, I have to do it personally. Otherwise, the ship is just sitting there doing nothing. Another pilot issue is a captured Kestrel where the pilot will not give up the seat. I've tried firing her, re-assigning her to another ship, anything I can think of. No joy. The only thing I can do when something like this happens is to sell the offending ship, crew and all. I'm going to try selling them to the Xenon since they refuse to follow orders.
BTW, I made sure there are no pending orders, so that's not the issue.

The new PC I just built for myself:
i5-13600k, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3060 12GB
It'll do until I can upgrade the graphics card.

Did you check the ship details / orders?
I have the problem that taking control of a ship, the ship looses its squad info as well as its orders. I then have to reconfigure them from scratch.
Probably not, but maybe worth double checking that there's not some a 'wait' order or something stuck at top priority and blocking the pilot, but which you can remove.
still annoying of course.

Yeah, checked that. Last sentence of original post. No pending orders.

When you give them an order, they usually tell you, they will wait for you to signal them. And the order queue might be empty. You need to comm them anyway and tell them to continue with the orders. Then they'll follow.
Annoying as hell. This whole "wait for signal" stuff is seriously inconsistent.

That's not the problem. The pilot gives up the chair and goes to the back of the ship. When I get up, the pilot doesn't come back. He/she is on the ship, but not retaking the controls. When I comm him/her, the option to retake control is there, but it does nothing. Also, can't fire the pilot and can't promote another crew member to pilot so ship is stuck being only controllable by me. There's nothing to be done other than take the ship to a shipyard and sell it as it's pretty much useless otherwise.
