[Bug / Tweak] 1.50 probably from day 1. Bombers and bombing runs / Line of sight / range

  • I think the bombers really need to ensure they have a line of sight to the target, ex surface turret on a station, which can be behind a cross or module. The bomber can also be on the other side of the module trying to shoot a turret.
  • The ship needs to understand the range of the torpedo or missile as a number have been shot a KM or more out of range, as you can tell by them detonating in space or never reaching the target
  • We do not have gravity, why do the bombers need to even fly back and forth to do bombing runs?? They can move to a location for a better shot / get in range / move to a line of sight if it has non and then just sit there fire. This stance would change when an enemy is attacking with hopes that it can avoid a few shots, or moving closer to a destroyer / its wingmen defending the bomber ..something
  • Bombers only need 1 light torpedo which is usually enough per turret so this also needs to be taken into account not keep shooting torpedoes for 10 seconds due to the slow fly time of the torpedo getting to the target and destroying it
  • Bombers like the peregrine, with turrets indeed they are probably for defence, even after saying the above, we could have the option to have them orbit a target at turret range or the shortest ranged turret the ship has equipped, while still using torpedoes, but this should be a selectable option by the player
Tweaks
We need an option for all ships to say "attack turrets" so its sole focus is turrets.
"attack turrets + modules" priority would be turrets and then modules only after there are no turrets.
"attack modules" only attacks modules
"attack modules + turrets" modules first turrets are secondary
"attack ships" attacks all enemy ships of that particular station / carrier
"attack ships with a tick box for sizes of ships"
"attack ships + modules" ships first modules second priority

These options can be chained in the orders list so if we select "attack ships" and another command saying "attack turrets" the ship in question would engage ships until there are no enemy ships of that station or carrier and then turn to turrets

Modules would change to HULL or ship if the selected target is a L or bigger ship due to surface targets and these options would come in handy for boarding

In terms of what IMO are bugs is that the bomber needs to ensure range and line of sight. The torpedoes need to be double checked for life span / speed / range as a number are not reaching the target at the torpedoes listed range.
