Missiles and Turret aim from AI while attacking stations.

Post by lordmuck »

Hey,

Please if this does not make sense tell me.

The SCA Maja Dust station its the shape of an L or a corner of a square. The target box of the station is in space, if the station was a full square the target would be dead centre of the square.

So the AI is shooting missiles, yet the missiles heavy smart missiles, were all flying around this centre point which is empty.
Turrets set to attack all enemies also are affected by this and they continue to shoot at that empty space.

If turrets were all on attack my target this would not happen to some degree.

This target is also playing a part on AI pathing, the AI must head to that spot, before it goes to the dock. If you look from the map, most if not all stations are affected by this. The AI must pass right dead centre of the stations Icon.
So this "target" or this thing that defines where something is located in space, must be dynamic to the models of the station. It must choose another part of the station if the current part is destroyed. AI should not be tied to this target for pathing. It makes no sense, AI should path directly to an empty spot above the dock, which if you look at the dock when in build mode you see a semi transparent box, which we are unable to build on/ in which is attached to the dock. The AI should path towards that semi transparent box. Yet it should also start to calculate pathing when it hits the boundary box (Plot size) and not before. The AI would know already where the dock is to path to until that boundary box is hit.

Does this make sense?
Or have I typed this for nothing and its going to go unnoticed like everything else.. ?

lol
whatev

The target is not dead centre sorry..

Had this on a few different stations. My whole fleet will be firing every laser available at the target box for the station (which is usually empty/on top of an already destroyed module) instead of targeting a fresh module or even the damn station itself.

Yes, generally speaking if you want to destroy stations the best way to go is manually piloting a destroyer and using your batteries to destroy the modules one by one. AI and all guided weapons target the center of the station and keep doing completely nothing.

The "best" way, is to hit T on the component of the station while in map mode, right mouse click on a wing that you are in, Attack my target. I'm editing a station that I destroyed atm and will upload soon :) 4hours -.-
