STORY: X-Universe/ Khaak War part one. BIG UPDATE!

Post by RustiSwordz »

I've added a few bits here and there. A Directors Cut per se Enjoy. :)

Intercepted report from an unknown senior intelligence agency operative and a Star Field Marshal regarding the Khaak / X-Universe War.

Prequel
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the sudden rise of Khaak incursions into X-Universe territory. There have been increased raids into Gestu Fune from the main Khaak sectors in the east and north. Including a big rise in fast moving probes, centred mainly around the fringe systems or those of logistical importance. I have ordered fast fighter patrols and probes to be sent into Khaak territory and the results disturb me with large numbers of Khaak shipping assembling in what appears to be staging areas. I've sent word to the various Governments of the x-universe and told them to make preparations in case of conflict. I've also stepped up plans for a joint X-Universe Defence force to be set up in case the Khaak do go on the offensive. So far the Argon and Boron have shown a direct interest. The Teladi agree, in principal. The Split and Paranid are both suspicious and the Xenon haven't responded at all. This is unacceptable and I've ordered my agents to redouble their efforts in getting all races on board. Unless we can get a cohesive united-race fighting force together soon any possible large-scale attack by the Khaak will seriously cripple the X-Universe.

Week 1-5
Large formations of Khaak fighters have attacked key sectors in the east right up to Scale Plate Green, effectively cutting us off from all the new eastern sectors. They attack key sectors first, shipyards and equipment docks/ factories. Then move onto the less important sectors linking up with other Khaak battle-groups on the way. Little news from the conquered sectors, but survivors claim carnage and slaughter to be almost total, the Khaak wiping out military resistance before moving onto infrastructure then civilian targets. They attack in waves, small fighters first, then larger ships move in to mop up. The larger ships blockading the gates preventing escape. They also attack from all gates simultaneously which suggests that their ships are all equipped with jump drives as standard.
It is reported from eye witnesses that the larger ships are equipped with tractor beams and advanced teleports capable of beaming whole moving fighter craft through full shielding. There are no reports as yet of any boarding actions by the Khaak against shipping or stations, however there is an unconfirmed report of a Capital Khaak Vessel using its crab claws to 'grab' the trade stations hull in Omicron Lyrae, but this is as I said: unconfirmed.
Note: The Khaak's firepower is staggering, as is their numbers, the ratio of which is estimated to be 3/4 to1. The mortality rate between our ships and theirs is a similar rate, every one of theirs we kill, we lose 3 of ours. Resistance against the Khaak is fierce but ineffective. We must get all the races to work together now, we have little choice if we are to combat this.

Week 6-7
The Khaak advance has stopped when Scale Plate Green was assaulted. This was soon after the hastily assembled United X-Universe Space Military Defence Forces was announced. The combined firepower of all the races, despite their respective differences and doubts, forced the Khaak to hold position. However we are still on the defensive. It's amazing how a bit of fear can get all the races on board for the United Defence Project I just hope it's not too little too late.

Week 8-10
The Xenon managed to liberate Scale Plate Green, however whether or not the Xenon will give back SPG after the war remains to be seen and a problem for a later date. A combined force of 30 Split, Teladi, and Xenon Cruisers and Destroyers and 150 fighters is assembling in Cho's Defeat as we speak in preparation to mount an offensive against the Khaak in Nyana's Hideout. However they won't be ready for several days.
Note: The Xenon have engaged the enemy on their own accord without consulting with the United Forces Command structure. The only advantage of this is that they keep the Khaak off balance. But it could still be used against us and waste valuable ships on unnecessary engagements. This early on in the war we need to be cautious, and the Xenon had better fall in line.

Week 11
The UXSMDF forces engaged the Khaak in Nyana's Hideout, forced the Khaak back into Omicron Lyrae, unfortunately our fleet was badly mauled, so no pursuit could be mounted against the retreating Khaak. Probes and Recon ships suggest that the Khaak are fortifying their positions in Omicron Lyrae for a protracted war. Refugees are becoming and have been a problem. Fleeing the combat zones in their thousands in any ships they can find. This is causing a big problem for our military vessels who are having problems due to gate snarl ups. Local police are doing the best they can, trying to keep the civvies out of the way so our ships can move up to the front. One incident was caused when an Argon mammoth got stuck in a gate sideways, the gate couldn't engage and the panicked freighter captains following threatened to blast him out of the way. A Paranid tug with a quick witted captain and a cutting laser sliced the engines off the Mammoth then towed it out of the way with the Mammoths Captain hurling abuse over the comms at the Paranid tug! The Argon with the natural help of the Goner are trying to secure the refugee problem by moving them into secured areas in argon territory, even the doubtful Split and the frugal Teladi are doing their bit in helping the dispossessed people.

Week 12
Lack of ships is our primary concern, I've ordered all military shipbuilders to maximize their outputs. This includes all weapon and equipment manufacturers. However even at capacity the Khaak will still outnumber us 2/1, I recommend all new warships be equipped with Jump Drives as standard and with full maxxed weapons and engine upgrades, this would increase our flexibility no end despite the increased cost of production. I've also sent word to Civilian shipbuilders and Weapon smiths such as Handbyte Industries, RustiSwordz Design Bureau, Cartel Incorporated and Avis Imperium, to contribute with weapon designs and vessels of their own to supplement ours. They have responded favourably however as with all business they are concerned about profit, but I do believe they understand the long-term gravity of the situation. i.e. the possibility of defeat, and their profits going bang. Literally.
These corporate companies all have extensive military experience to back up their ship building prowess, and I have asked them to provide internal security to the home sectors helping to keep law and order tight and to provide internal intelligence during the conflict and to help any fast attack raids which I'm sure will come. These squads we've named The Corporate Security Force. This frees up much of the military to actually fighting the war.

Week 13-22
The Khaak have begun a new tactic. As I predicted, massed fighter raids, backed up by destroyers have been launched across the home sectors. Concentrating mainly the pirate sectors east of Argon space and the Paranid Sectors. I must recommend extreme caution. Such attacks are usually a prequel for a larger offensive. Attacking targets well away from their real objectives, and forcing us to commit forces well away from their planned objectives. With the Khaak's jump capability, that could be almost anywhere. The corporate security patrols have come into their own, staving off many fighter raids and providing intelligence.

Week 23-28
The raids have continued in the home sectors, I've now ordered fighter elements and gunboats all with new jump equipment, backed up with destroyer cover to mount armed recon raids into Khaak held sectors in an attempt to find information about their depositions, and to shake them up for a change. I've also increased probe launches and long-range sensor sweeps. However despite a lot of movement and fierce resistance no firm evidence to suggest an offensive is imminent. However Khaak home territory is vast and any fleets could easily hide where we cannot reach.

Week 29
The Khaak offensive has come. Over a hundred ships and 500 fighters in three elements, have warped into Ianamus Zura, Trinity Sanctum and Kingdom End. As usual they struck from all gate directions at once and hit the shipyards and equipment docks. Defence Forces and Corporate Patrols vectored in all at once but were swiftly defeated. The Khaak also launched further attacks in Nyana's hideout and Scale Plate Green and ramped up their fighter assaults in the Paranid Sectors.

Week 30
Refugees have become a problem again, people are fleeing the surrounding sectors away from the combat zones. The Khaak have sealed themselves into Kingdom End deactivating the jump gates by putting a power loop in the warp buffer, effectively sending back any ship who attempts to leave or enter KE. The Argon Titan 'Repulse' and Split Command Carrier 'Honourable Flames' collided when the loop forced them to crash into each other with the loss of 1500 lives as they attempted to counter attack the Khaak.
What reports that have been received indicate that Kingdom End is in flames and Khaak Mass driver weapons have flattened the Boron homeworld. Why they sealed themselves off remains a mystery. The Sectors between Ianamus Zura and Trinity Sanctum are under enormous assault and are expected to fall at anytime. We are rallying as many ships as possible and trying to stop the Khaak from solidifying their positions but we are spread too thinly and our attacks are proving ineffective. Any further attacks and we may have to consider destroying gates to prevent further assault...

End of part one...

Now onto writing Part Two...

excellent Rusty!!

hmm.... I suggest you seal off the Boron sectors & let them have them... after all they'd be no real loss...

Bit sad about that Split Carrier though!

liked it too - but wouldnt the civilians not start fleeing instantly after the first attack and sign of khaak power?

i wouldnt wait 30 weeks (>half a year) till it is too difficult to navigate between the ruins and avoiding hitting any corpses...

Thanks Rock. :D Thought id turn the Flibble imagination and my lust for a good war story into something on topic. And it's worked!

As for Tractor beam Padre, im using a lot of artistic licence in my storytelling, so as for the tactics and Khaak abillities ive gone by rumour and guess work. i'd dare say the Khaak are kick ass in the game though.
