Noob question - Player owned stations supplying other POS's
I played X3 mostly as a space combat/mining/trading game without station management, I just flew all the ships myself, so I may be missing something stupid obvious. I currently have an energy cell station and I just built a silicon refinery. I'm just finding out now that the silicon refinery needs energy cells as well as silicon. I have 3 ships mining silicon for the refinery, 2-3 ships shipping energy cells to other stations, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set my energy cell station to automatically supply my silicon station. I really don't wanna have to manually queue up these trades. I had assigned a freighter to the refinery, but he just wants to go buy from other stations. Can someone explain to me how to accomplish this please? I tried searching the forums for an answer, i probably just suck at using that too.

If you don't have your silicon refinery set to BUY energy, your energy plant won't see any buy requests and ship to it. If it is set to BUY energy, perhaps try adjusting the price it will buy higher than 15 or even 20.
Lastly, energy is cheap. Attach your own solar panel to every refinery station for self sufficiency. Energy cells don't require any intermediate products to create, they're basically free.

yeah, i figured this out now. But dont have the funds quite yet, and currently I already have a huge solar station that can supply it. The problem is, the station MIGHT supply my other station, but so far it's just been buying from other stations. So basically, it's just set and hope I don't run myself into the ground buying from other stations? Technically, since I own both stations, one shouldn't have to actually buy from the other one, and the ship I have working for the silicon refinery is set to max gates, and doesn't bother going to my solar plant for free cells.MjrScumbag wrote: ↑Tue, 18. Logical Overview of your Silicon Station. Make sure to check the box under Energy Cells. Click the part that says restrict trade with other factions. Your Trader for your Silicon Refinery will now have to get energy cells from one of you factories.

Dude, thank you! For whatever reason, I assumed that checkbox was to restrict trade with all factions but whatever sector faction your station belonged to. Like say the station is in Arg sector, would only trade with Arg.
