[FEEDBACK] Bridge and its crew

Post by Anubitus »

Hey

Would it be possible to have the bridge crew move around less frequent? Right now they sit down, imediately get back up, sit down somewhere else, get back up, move away from the bridge, come back on the bridge, stand on a console for 4 seconds, then move to one of the chairs again to sit down only to get back up after 2 seconds, etc... This gets very anoying and distracting after a while. Ofc it is ok for them to move around when the ship is idle or not doing anything important, but have them at least stay seated for a while when doing something like flying towards a destination or in combat. It is a bit imersion breaking to have them leave their stations all the time...

Also, on most consoles where they need to stand, they dont detect if there is someone already standing there and just go stand there too resulting in two crew members standing through/inside eachother on the same spot.

On a sidenote, what is causing that damn never-ending clicking sound on the bridges, it is driving me crazy, sometimes. :)

Oh, and one more thing, i know this is very low on the prio list but i was wondering if you could make it possible for us to actually chose our own bridge crew, instead of them randomly being selected from the pool of service crew members. I have engineers and other crew members and it would be nice if i could pick the crew members with a uniform for my bridge while the engineers stayed with the docked fighters instead of doing stuff on my bridge. :)

Thanks

Never ending clicking sound? Are you playing with a gamepad, or have the gamepad mode on? Basically, does your ship auto-target whatever's in front? If it does, then that clicking sound is your turrets.

It's really bad on ships with multiple seats. The Peregrin being the best example. I have a crew member alternate between the 2 seats behind me for the past two weeks now. Switched to a scout for exploration for this reason....

On my Cerberus, when the crew get up from the seat on the right and move to the seat on the left they will get stuck every time. its like as if the pathing is broken. in some cases, they will just stop. if the ship takes off when this happens they will sink through the floor.

I have feedback regarding pilots in single-seater ships. You can double-click the chair to sit down instantly which causes the pilot to stand up in your view before they eventually walking away. Some of the ships, the pilot can get stuck in your face forcing you to stand up to let them out. In other ships, I noticed that there aren't even any animations for this, the chair doesn't turn, the pilot disappears and you teleport into the chair (someone missed rigging somewhere im guessing). I like the whole chair turning and person standing up thing when im not in a hurry, but clearly it's possible to have the NPC teleport away. It would make more sense to have the NPC teleport as soon as you sit down, so if you do go slow or wanna role play, you can, but if you're in a hurry, the NPC doesn't get in your way.

I would also like to see ship crew access their consoles more; I mean tapping at the screen and looking like they`re doing something. Right now they look bored 70% of the time, just sitting there. If you watch sci-fi shows like Star trek or Babylon 5, crew always look like they`re tapping on their consoles which gives the impression they`re busy. they never sit there looking bored- It comes across much better.

I also agree that they should move to other position seats less, about half the rate.

So, to sum up, AI npc crew should:

1.Tap consoles more.

2. Move seats less.
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)
