fighter disappears after selling freighter

capped a dead Minotaur, piloted it and assigned a captain to defend my new minotaur and space walked to cap it. piloted it to a shipyard, sold the minotaur, and now my elite, which is docked with a captain, is unclickable. it's docked somewhere in the shipyard but it's not showing up on my properties list, and when i mouse over it on the map nothing shows up. I also can't shift+d it. it's just on the map in a different plane of reality.
