Pirate Sectors
Are there any pirate destroyers in the game? I'd like to perfect my boarding ops

Yes..they usually hang around SCA/HaT Production Stations and "pirate" incoming cargo ships.

Silent Witness sector is the best place to hunt for SCA destroyers.

Only draw back to pirates is that they don't have their own unique ships like they had in X3R-X3AP and Rebirth, of course in rebirth the pirate ship selection was pathetic compared to what they had in X3.
