I recorded myself fighting a station with a fleet and having fun messing around watching my ships then I kept noticing the station healing back up by massive percentages. Here are some of the things I noticed.
Any ships in my fleet that ran out of missiles even if they had other weapons would retreat from the fight and not accept commands to re-engage.
All ships in fleets/wings and solo selected would sometimes attack the central point of the station plot rather than the station itself. (This caused most of my casualties as my ships just destroyed each other in the mess.)

My destroyers would fly up to the station, fire a volley from their main guns, then turn around and fly around a bit.

The station was being rebuilt by the AI faster than my ships could damage it even without a builder ship there. I resorted to camping the storage site just to stop the station from healing to max.

I resorted to building another 75 Light fighters with Pulse mk2s. (I was finally winning the fight percentage by percentage.)

Suddenly an allied builder ship turned up and the station started healing up again. I lazily tried to stop it and died to its missile fire.

I don't know how to embed images here yet and I could upload to whole embarrassing 47 minute video of my bad piloting also if it helps.
The story of how I failed to take a station for over 47 minutes.

Use scan mode on the station and be amazed. None of the module will lit up as as scannable.
While facing something similar I realized after a while that all station modules were actually dead, they were just replaced by a 90% finished construction models and the station had 60% health.
What needs to change is:
- station can't get rebuilt by a construction ship while being under siege... or each faction needs to use it's own construction ship so we don't get Argon ships repairing HAT pirate stations...
- Once a module is gone, it's gone for good, no popping in replacements. Even the wreck should blow up as they block weapons fire.
- Once there are no drones, no workforce, no docking ports etc. The stations should magically repair...
It's basically the same design as was in XR. Damaged station modules popping back into existence after 15 minutes of being wrecks. It was complained about back then and it's an even more issue now. How the hell do they expect the universe be dynamic if a station blow to bits just summons itself back to life?!
