XL ships are unplayable!

I am very disappointed, the XL ship's control is absurd, tragic, fatal, annoying, etc ...
XL's ships are totally useless, unfit for battle, unsuitable for anything.
- how could you do that? for what? why?

but.. my colossus works fine.. its fast (with 144m/s unmodded) it has a traveldrive that is decend but slow to load, and the weapons workt great against M+ ships.

and for smaller stuff, you can carry a whole load of extra ships D:

but yes, its kinda underwhelming but nowhere near as bad as you stated.

Man, my NPC Captain (just now) trying 45 min to use Jump Gate... to jump 1 sector! [facepalm]

Dam AI pilots flying tiny snub fighters can’t even enter an accelerator properly, and your expecting an XL to navigate a highway. Lol.

Sigh... I wish people could make a thread without going completely over the top.

I would say XL ships should be a little ungainly. Size, physics (yes physics exists, even in space) and all that, but I doubt they`re anything like as bad as the OP describes. Liklihood is he has little patience which means rage time!
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).

My XL ships works fine if I tell my NPC captain to do the stuff.
Who would want to fly the XL on their own?
it's a slow poke.

You're suppose to always bring a Fighter docked onboard with you, so when battles happens you go out and attack using the Fighter while the XL gives you cover.

Which is why I asked what is the problem with XL ships? They're carriers, not frontline assault units like the L sized destroyers.
And the fact they're slow to turn and move? Well, they're like Paulie from Goodfellas. They don't move fast, cause they don't have to move for anybody :mrgreen:

By the by, Paranid Zeus is not that slow @ 215m/s and over 4000m/s travel. It's just slow to turn, but it's not like you need to be pointing this thing at the enemy anyways as it's got no cannons.

sure, that they miss the gates with 50km is just us, that they cant fire further than their own size is just us, that their turrets are total useless is just us, that they cant even fly to attack a station is just us :D. btw, why do you have to make remarks on a person instead of the game? why is that belitling others all the time?

No. Just no. Medium and large weapons (both turrets and cannons) are currently abysmal as a fact. Its not just us, their range is completely garbage their damage is completely garbage and AI can't aim for anything... it needs balance and improvement.

Again... just NO. This isn't a game with the chosen one player character, you're supposed to be just another pilot in the game and that comes with your ships only being as good as npc ships (at least with the same mods). You're not here to destroy XL Carriers that should SWAT fighters like flies with a... well... A ****** FIGHTER. You NEED another XL or a group of L ships to defeat that... but current vanilla gameplay? you're in the wrong if you USE XL ships and i HATE that.

Don't be too smart where it is unnecessary.

Xl ships (at current state) are useless. period.

You do realize that the only combat XL craft are CARRIERS and as such they will never (I hope) be nimble like fighters nor carry as much firepower as destroyers?

We all know about the BUGS with pathfinding and turrets but crying "muh XL is useless" is not going to help.

If you're expecting XL ships to behave like ships in ED or SC, then it's not the ships that are broken, it's your expectations of this game. How about keeping it real and related to this game and its issues? I mean, even if/when the turrets and pathfinding do get fixed, the flight and combat models alone are nowhere near ED or SC, so...

muh, nobody wants them to be nimble as fighters nor to carry firepower like destroyers, we want them to be able to stand up for a few fighters on their own, still they are capitals, they should need other capitals to be taken down or at least a fleet of mediums

nobody wants them to be, we just want them if we mark a place to fly then it will fly there not the opposite way and not stop 40km from the spot.
