Mods and 1.5 Beta: Anyone have insight on this?
Wondering if anyone has a sense of what mods work or don't work with 1.5 beta branch. I expect this will be a short-lived concern so please delete thread if not even worth discussing. On the other hand if someone has anecdotal evidence that most mods are fine that would be useful for this week.

So far all the mods I've been using have been fine, haven't noticed anything playing up. And currently running with about 40 odd (many of them just small ones that change only one or two things though). Any mod that only uses the patch method on the xml's should work fine, only issue might be if someone has copied the entire xml instead and changed the values they wanted, there's a chance that could not cooperate properly depending on which files Egosoft changed in the beta.
But as it's been fine so far, I'd say majority of the mods won't be having any issues

As long as the beta doesn't change the same things the mods change - for obvious reasons mods right now all change relatively few things - there's no issue.
But the beta is busted, so...

Fix a few things, break a couple important things

Like how it tried to fry my CPU, that's quite the important thing

Jokes aside, the freezing/fps issue that seems to be related to the AI pathing/collision detection one is so severe it's most likely going to be rolled back. I expect a beta2 coming soon, after the weekend, with only the safe, less troublesome fixes that have nothing to do with pathing, and they'll probably go live with only that before christmas. A shame, but what can you do, shit happens, that's why betas exist. Anyway, this just reinforces the chance mods are going to be fine for quite a while, at this rate it's hard to imagine any patch big enough to cause widespread incompatibilities at least before january. And january will be funny indeed:
- "Hey guys! Here's 2.0!"
- "Cool! A whole 2.0! What amazing new content have you added? The Borons? The Split? A beer vending machine in the PHQ?"
- "Errrrr... well, traders don't break anymore now and shipyards actually build ships... this warrants a 2.0, doesn't it?"
