Just Loving X4

Post by Aramike »

With all the critiques out there, I wanted to offer some words of support. I'm not a hardcore gamer and have limited time to get into gaming. But I am LOVING this game and am investing time at a record pace. No, not hundreds. Not dozens. Like 15 since launch.

But every moment has been fun, with the exception of 2 crashes. This is entertainment, and I'm well-entertained. At a certain point, some of the missing or difficult features may bug me, but then I'll just entertain myself in different ways.

Great job, Egosoft!

Agreed. I`ve spent far more time on this game than I should. And much is is just because of the feel of being `there` rather than just staring at a spreadsheet.
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

I will agree with most about the stagnant state of the game currently, although recent patches have fixed that. But I agree, I'm having a great time with the game, 155 hours now. Especially once they stabilize it and mods start pumping out, will be good for years to come.

Fully agree.I had so much fun since release. Because I take it slow most issues so far were already resolved when I got the point where they become relevant.

Those most critical about X4 are usually long time veterans of the X series, like me, who not only see what the game is right now, but what it was and could be. This is a blessing and curse as well. On one hand, I think all of us are happy and actually relieved, that X4 got made at all, and because this has been the smoothest launch any X game has ever seen. On the other hand, unlike people entering the X-Universe for the first time, we also see the shortcomings, the issues and everything that's still missing from the game and should be there (or should work a certain way) by all accounts. This is critique not of hate, but of love, for the game, for the series and the countless stories we've experience and yet to experience in the X-Universe. Because we know X4 is going to be an incredible game and a lot of us are going to no-life this b**ch for weeks, months and years in the future... but we are not there yet. There's a lot to be done, before X4 reaches the point of X3TC/3.0/AP, when you can put the varnish on it and say "it's finished". Judging from previous titles, it's gonna take years, but we X fans are nothing if not patient. We just get a little ahead of ourselves sometimes

142 hours (includes quite a few restarts with updates) but loving every minute in X4. I can see a great future with X4 and see it surpassing X3 as my "Go To Space Game" through 2019 and onwards. Egosoft have shown us they are dedicated to X4 with the crazy amount of updates being pumped out.

Giving Egosoft some time through early 2019, X4 will get most of the annoying bugs sorted, hopefully some tweaking to a few UI elements and onto DLC's for future content. I can see (hopes) a bright future for the X series.

My only real gripe is the ease of getting into the game, I would love a little more hard core as X3 was. But also understand Egosoft are most likely trying to bring the game to a wider market of players.

Keep it up Egosoft, X series is back in style :)

Yes, I played every x-game for hundreds of hours since x-btf 20 years ago. Of course there are still issues and it is important to point at them but a lot of criticism is also because people are not accepting any chances to their baby and want the same old mechanics with just upgraded graphics. There already were people hating X3 because of too many changes from x2 (no cockpits, completely changed ship designs). But I needed a completely new take at the X-Universe because I know every mechanic in and out and there was no challenge left for me anymore (completed hub plot without over night seta sessions just by playing the game).

I also enjoyed the VR edition of X Rebirth because of Rebirths focus on capital ships the detail of the design of the systems and the in some parts more complex economy. I had a lot of fun there to design a self sustaining economy for devries. While in the old games you could just spam stations the process was much more involved in rebirth (and I am glad they took much of it over though I miss the Rebirth capitals).

I see X4 as a try to mix the best of X3 and rebirth but there were still some good things left behind in the process.

I love it too, over a 100 hours in already.
I think this is the most positive launch I have seen from Egosoft in years. Definitely much more positive response than X:R.
Sure, people are criticizing the game, I am too, but this is not just bashing - rather urging devs to fix it so that we can enjoy even more.

By the way, did anyone with previous X experiences (I played all games since X2) actually expected a polished product at launch? I think not.

Of course loving a game is why we complain when we see something we percieve as wrong. Just because one loves a game does not mean he can`t point out issues- and he should to help make it even better. Absolute fanboyism is never good for anything. :)

I'm sure that if the support will continue over the years this game will be surely the best in the series (and the space sim of my dreams)

I think, that best in the series is X3 game.

X4 is graphically demanding and resource-hungry simulation of X3.

Nope. X4 has several new dimensions that X3 never had. The universe has the potential of being much more dynamic. X3 is very stale in comparison. Surprised this isn't getting more acknowledgement from the 'vets'.

Smoothest launch, really? I don’t think X2 and all 3 X3 games were this broken at launch.

I have a copy of X3 Reunion right here on my desk and i can assure you, it was very broken, near the levels of X Rebirth
(it has an amazing cover though  )

50 hours in, and the game is still admirable, and will probably remain as such.

If the universe wasn't dead I would love it too despite all the other pre-existing issues.
