problem with fleet

Hi i am having a problem with my fighter fleet, I built a few carriers and a bunch of fighters and bombers and i told 2 of the carriers the fighters and bombers to defend the main carrier, and when i told the leader of the fleet to attack it didnt destroy anything but instead the entire fleet got destroyed, what is going on?

sadly fleets seem bugged atm, hoping this will be addressed soon
