Odd experience upgrading a ship

Post by Scoob »

Hey all,

So, I sent one of my ships - a Sunder Gas Miner - to a Wharf to grab some crew and make a few changes. I selected to add Service Crew, swap the Argon Shield for Teladi ones, and install Beam Turrets. Engines and Thrusters weren't touched. I add it to the list and click "Confirm Order" - everything is "ok".

I look back on this ship later and it's stuck, the station saying it's out of resources - when it was fine when I ordered the build. Also, looking closer, it says it's Engine Parts it's missing, and that's why it cannot proceed. None of my changes require Engine Parts.

Note: there's no way to cancel this. I mean, I can cancel it, but it still wants to start the update.

It looks like required resources aren't being reserved when you "Confirm Order", also, eight more ships have been queued up after mine, perhaps they took the resources? Something not quite right.

It happened to me when buying sats for personal ship - think that needs no engine parts, which was the missing ware.
If an NPC ship is queued it will block upgrades even if they would be possible resource wise.
I did not check the queue before, but saw some posts about NPC ships taking over the player in the que several times.

Only way to cancel the upgrade is to undock. The button in the upgrade screen is just a normal cancel for the actual contents of that screen.
Since then i do the upgrades i can at equipment docks..

I've been delivering engine parts to this stating, but the missing resources requirements is going UP. It was 1,300 and something, I brought it down to 1,200 and something with my Kestrels - just 30 at a time - so I brought in my M-Class Trade ship and just offloaded over 300, but it's gone UP. No more ships added to the queue.

I'll keep adding the missing resources and see how I get on.

Perhaps I just didn't check properly, but I could have sworn I saw the large green Ok message before I confirmed the order. Ah well.

I had a similar thing happen, i ordered 9 Nemesis Vanguards and it said "everything is ok" then looked after the purchase and it was missing loads of parts, fortunately i wasnt in any hurry for the ships so i just spent time organising my trader army and eventually they were built, would be nice to be pre-warned about the material deficit before hand though

If more npcs overtake you in the queue it might take a while.
I got the biggest ship do several runs for that wharf which is supposed to build my ship with 40k+ cargo, still not enough.. wish there was a license or such to grant priority always in the build queue.

Luckily, after I'd delivered about a quarter of the required wares, my ship started upgrading. Still don't know why my upgrade was paused when I didn't need any engine parts though. Perhaps I did somehow get queue jumped, though all was fine at the time I requested the changes. Ah well.
