Behemoth squad action!

You can imagine my excitement when I rolled out my first Behemoth in shiny black livery.

What a beast! :o

So I selected 4 fighters and right clicked my Behemoth, asking them to protect it - the wing was formed.

They then proceeded to dock at the Behemoth, pretty cool.

So I sent the Behemoth to Zenon territory to watch the fireworks...

Essentially what happened is this, against 1 Xenon fighter it took nearly 10 minutes for the Behemoth to finally destroy it. My fighter wing didn't undock to help.

That sucked.

Okay, so I tried again.

This time I manually selected all fighters to undock, selected all ships and sent them to fight another Xenon fighter. Easy, right? Nearly 4 minutes to kill it... ffs.

But then something interesting happened, my fighters lined up in formation with the Behemoth - it looked awesome! Aside from 1, of course, who decided to dock. FFS!

So again, I selected the Behemoth only and sent it to attack some Xenon. It did. But the fighters remained in formation and just did nothing.

Oh, for fu... what am I doing wrong, or are wings and formations just broken? :x :(

Dont pilot Behemot by yourself. My is protected by 2 Eclipse, 4 Quasar nad 4 Pulsar. I set up protect area as default order. When he is there, all ships protecting him and taking orders from Behemot pilot. When he moves to another sector, ale ships First dock.

Behemot equip:
2x Behemot bariery,
6x Plasma turret

Eclipse
4x Plasma cannon

Quasar
4x Beam Laser

Pulsar
4x Repeater Gun
2x Ion cannon

Just to clarify, I wasn't piloting the Behemoth - but I was stood on the bridge spectating.

I dont remember a single X game where wing /formation behavior was okay. In X3tc, in x3ap, it was screwed to the limits. x4 the same (for now). Made with "hands growing straight outta someone's butt".

That's a real shame, because when they're flying in formation one significant thing does work - the fighters follow at the same speed, even during travel drive!

So close, yet no cigar.

x3 moded does it well but yeah vanilla x games never managed to make that work properly ^^
